Location: Cambridge, MA [MIT Campus]

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS, Solve, to play a leading role in working with U.S. and global custom challenge clients to implement tech-based social innovation challenges, including design, launch, selection, and follow-on support. Will be responsible for a percentage of the department’s revenue generation through contract renewals and new business. Responsibilities include working closely with custom challenge clients in developing and executing a strategy for creating and launching custom innovation challenges using Solve’s methodology; facilitating workshops and participating in engagements promoting Solve and/or its partners; collaborating with other teams on developing and implementing communications and promotion strategy for individual innovation challenges; overseeing launch of each innovation challenge on Solve’s open innovation web-based platform; managing the planning and execution of each stage of the innovation challenge process; overseeing the work of other department staff; and sourcing, negotiating, and closing new and renewing existing contracts. Solve is an initiative of MIT that advances lasting solutions from tech entrepreneurs to address the world’s most pressing problems through open innovation. Within each of Solve’s pillars—Learning, Health, Economic Prosperity, and Sustainability—a specific, actionable challenge is announced each year. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; at least three years' project management experience, including at least two in entrepreneurship/innovation, social impact, and/or nonprofit organizations; ability to effectively build relations with world-class corporate, foundation, and government partners; experience working in a complex, multilayered environment with multiple stakeholders; and strong leadership, facilitation, public speaking, organizational, management, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills.  

PREFERRED: Master’s degree; solid understanding of entrepreneurship and innovation for social impact; and fluency in additional languages, e.g., Spanish or French. Job #18336-8
