Norfolk resident here - really excited to see where this takes off; especially poignant with cat 4 Florence breathing down our necks as I type!

Wouter Deconinck

Nearly half of our team is in Hurricane Florence mandatory evacuation Zone A. Stay safe out there!

In response to Our solution goals over the next 12 months:

you want to think about min set of data you need to already use machine learning for testing early predictive models

Ms. Karen Lindquist

Many thanks for this comment. We have 10 months of data from a pilot test in Norfolk that ran into early this year. It will be a good idea to set a minimum for our newer and future installations.

In response to Our solution goals over the next 12 months:

Consider limiting this list and providing additional details or metrics, and/or information on how many sensors are currently deployed.

Ms. Karen Lindquist

Thanks Dr. Dale. Indeed the biggest short term goal is getting sensor nodes deployed in flood prone areas and generating data. We currently have 11 sensors deployed in Virginia Beach VA, 2 in Western North Carolina and one outside of Charleston SC. 30 more are on order for VA and NC and we are also expanding into Delaware with 8 sensor nodes.more in the sales pipeline.

In response to What makes our solution innovative:

Consider identifying competing technologies and/or key differentiators for your work relative to other sensor networks.

In response to Our vision over the next three to five years to grow and scale our solution to affect the lives of more people:

The benefits of something like this seem really wide-spread. In addition to the potential revenue sources listed here, you could also probably include insurance and reinsurance companies as clients given your point about fraud detection.

Ms. Karen Lindquist

We have received interest from the insurance and reinsurance industry. The more data we generate from our flood sensor network, the more valuable it becomes - to refine risk calculations but also to settle claims. We're interested in finding data on flooded car claims - one measure of our success would be to see this number go down in areas where a flood monitoring and alert system is active.
