ECOMMERCE PLATFORM  to help eradicate unemployment, gender equality ,women empowerment,sustainable agriculture,organic farming, module to enable and promote regional growth as well as national growth  .An innovative web and mobile enabled platform to increase smallholder farmer incomes through integrating them into sustainable markets in UP belt or any rural belt of INDIA. We call it Sell or Buy, and in 2019 we used it to connect 2240 rural farming households who typically have no more than 1acre  of land to 467 retailers and processors across UTTAR PRADESH.  

In sourcing agricultural products directly from the rural small-scale farmers and delivers directly to informal green grocers, schools, hospitals, corporate sector,malls  and restaurants, thereby removing the middlemen and shrinking the agricultural value chain, GAON-HAAT works to specifically improve the livelihoods of rural smallholder farmers and the informal green grocers most of whom are women. 

What specific problem are you solving?

In sourcing agricultural products directly from the rural small-scale farmers and delivers directly to informal green grocers, schools, hospitals, corporate sector,malls  and restaurants, thereby removing the middlemen and shrinking the agricultural value chain, GAON-HAAT works to specifically improve the livelihoods of rural smallholder farmers and the informal green grocers most of whom are women. 

 Women constitute 85% of informal green farmer’s team as well as grocers in proposed location of Narayanpur /(Dhanapur)Chandauli &Chunar etc in the age of 14 to 45+, and 80% of farmers are of an average age of 60.  delivery of money in their hands, with convenience of time, the women served by GAON-HAAT gets opportunity for a better livelihood for themselves and  families. 

By piloting open contracts with farmers, GAON-HAAT offers 20-40% higher prices as compared to brokers, helping generate better ROI along with direct linkage to urban markets. This also helps reduce post-harvest wastage by 50% in the sight of farmers. 

As for retailers GAON-HAAT offers them the convenience of doorstep delivery of the produce, saving them 3-4 hours of sourcing time and nearly 100-300 rupees on logistics depending on quantity and  assuring of high quality farm fresh produce supplies at lower than market rates.

According to UN Environment Program, 550 million small farmers provide up to 80% of food consumed , just receiving only 35% value Mostly captured by intermediaries in the supply chain.Increasing demand  for fresh and ethical products  range from wheat, rice, millet to vegetables even dairy products. Need for  developing transparent and fair distribution models to put  farmers’ livelihoods is priority.  Removing intermediaries for a more direct access to market , smallholder farmers can directly increase economic security for rural communities to assure food production for local and global markets.  GAON-HAAT helps connecting smallholder farmers to markets directly

Improved supply chain practices to reduce food loss, scale new business models for producer-market connections, and create low-carbon cold chains. New brand names for local varieties of rice dedicated to women such as BHOOMI,SHREE, VAISHNAVI,BHABHI,AMMA etc regional(JOGWA,DHANA, NARAYANI,MATA etc)will be brought into existence. Flour/maize/corn brands may have names like GHARONDA, GHARELU, BABU, GAJODHAR, OM; etc spices may have names like DHARTI, GRAMIN, SAMUH, CHULHA, DEHATI etc,dal,pulses, cereals like CHAKKI,PISA,SABOOT etc. GAON HAAT will be the first concern to divide and segregate food items based on consumer health-two major categories 1 catering to People with DIABETES and 2nd catering to NON -DIABETIC be it food, drinks, oils, or any eatables!!

GAON HAAT is going to establish in the initial stage itself its own diary processing unit(7000 litres capacity) for numerous dairy products like  cheese,paneer,dahi(yogurt),flavoured milk,etc till now has assembled 200 farmers and milk producers to offer milk for this reason which will result in a “brand establishment” in dairy sector name –MILK MANIA .GAON HAAT will be the first concern to manufacture VEGAN products under name MILKMANIA like soymilk, coconut milk, almond milk, butter, mayonnaise ,yoghurt, cheese etc

GAON HAAT for the first time will introduce a range by name SUB.KA which will have all dried item starting from spices to fruit and vegetable powders .like spinach,garlic,carrot,onion,tomato,cauliflower,cabbage, (all vegetables and fruits)both canned and fod items like sandwich, biryani, pulao, rolls, kebabs, grill items ,proper curry items etc dried and packed which is to be used as INSTANT FOOD

in this era of android application and training by experts has easy assimilation and learning process by beneficiaries.training to be provided to each beneficiary by staff and our expert team.even logistics has helped a lot,the hassles of previous generation has hassled by communication modes and commuting modes and has made the world a much smaller space.every beneficiary having access to communication modes or just by touch or call the answer back policy is very fast and accessible both for promoter and beneficiaries

local language talk modes,language conversion soft wares, help by volunteers, skill development classes and seminars training by experts and industry professionals at time intervals.cooperation by NGOS and voluntary organizations working in extreme location sand non-accessible zones,in remote villages and corners has helped to fast up pace of work.. working policy and evaluation policy at every corner of work  team work , up gradation and skill set of team members has also added a lot to the improvement

Our team of(35-40) on-the-ground field agents uses the Sell or Buy platform to bring together the supply power of tens of thousands of smallholder farmers to meet the demand of local, regional and internationals buyers. GAON-HAAT provides the logistics to link farmers(2000+) to buyers, combined with immediate digital payments to farmers upon delivery of their crop, ensuring produce meets buyer specifications and provides the buyers with the ability to trace the source of the crops they are purchasing. This provides a reliable route to market using the internet and mobile and a much easier and reliable method. This has enabled farmers and buyers to build confidence in the market, gaining the ability to plan ahead and invest in improved production and more robust agricultural trades.
