As the problems of skills mismatch are closely associated with the more general problems affecting the labor markets, including high unemployment, increasing inequality and lack of decent work opportunities, and these are for women and girls in general and particularly for rural women and girls, in this project is designed as a solution, the professional computer science training programs for the rural young women and girls, and this will changes lives especially for rural gender female, women and girls will improve their social recognition by creating their own business, they will get the place in workplace, there will be more jobs creation in rural communities and increasing of the technology companies number in rural areas. Technology companies or technology materials market can have place in rural areas.

What specific problem are you solving?

in Burundi country one of the east African countries, in general, skills mismatch is causing a lot of problems for gender female and particularly for marginalized rural young women and girls, including high unemployment,  increasing inequality and lack of decent jobs opportunities, due to the low quality of education in ICT for rural young women and girls, they are not considered in workplace, they are rejected and this conducts to an increase female poverty.  They are marginalized and still play a predominantly domestic role in society. Rural young women therefore do not have a valued place in the workplace. 90% of women and girls in rural areas in BURUNDI country have not an idea about the information technology, many girls can even finish studies without any skills in information technology, this situation causes a lot of problems because when it comes to the demand for employment, they are asked as candidates if they have at least the computer skills and when it's about doing business online or with internet it becomes more difficult, the reason why young rural girls fail for jobs and businesses and we see the unemployment of young people in general and particularly for young girls 

What is your solution?

Is designed as solution, the professional computer science training programs for the rural young women and girls that is to say for the 150 young women and girls. These programs will provide computer science training to finalist students girls from public and private schools in rural areas and young unemployed young women, taking into account the skills needs of employers. Given that even the survey that has been carried out, has shown that with the increase in computer knowledge in rural areas can be useful for the development of skills and increase the quality of formal or informal education in rural areas because some say that with the internet you learn a lot and you can achieve a lot of things.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

as we work with people in rural areas in general and particularly for rural women and girls, in this solution we will work with the rural girls finalists students and marginalized young women, as we work in rural areas as our team, we know what rural girls and young women face and we know that in rural areas good quality education and skills development are needed in general and particularly for rural girls and young women. This solution addresses their needs because in rural areas the girls and young women are missing jobs opportunities and skills development because of lacking knowledge in ICT competencies.

the problem,  solution, and our solution’s target population relate to the Challenge and selected dimension, because as the challenge and selected dimension is about strengthening competencies, particularly in STEM and digital literacy, for girls and young women to effectively transition from education to employment, even our service or work, as described above concerns to develop skills of rural young women and girls in STEM and digital inclusion in order to facilitate them in workplace. Let us mark that is also increasing the number of girls and young women participating in formal and informal learning and training.

Describe what makes your solution innovative.

The solution is innovative because in our country, rural female gender is not motivated in in ICT because of the lack of support and training Programs, and lack technology companies and technology materials markets, but with awareness in ICT in rural areas in general and particularly for rural women and girls, this can develop technology materials markets and companies and increase jobs opportunities in rural communities that is why we describe this solution as innovative.

here in this solution, it is about digital inclusion in rural areas for the profit of rural young women and girls. We will deal with training Programs in ICT competencies because if technology will be more good if marginalized people at least know about it even in the base stage, because today even in agriculture practices the technology exists, we mean technology is in all domains, so how about our poor communities in east Africa countries in rural areas with no basic knowledge in ICT? The solution is about technology awareness in rural areas in general and particularly for rural women and girls.

digital inclusion and ICT use is the key for development or skills development for every country and it is applicable in developed countries but it still challenge in poor communities in rural due to the lack of support, but it can work even with the rural communities if the support is available.

What is your theory of change?

we expect our solution to have an impact because we will design as main activities in this project, the training Programs, it means keep available the training classes, keeping available the training Programs materials for the beneficiaries, this solution seems to be well approved in the rural communities, according to the survey made in the BUGENDANA community as our first target, they are ready, and this will be the new approach in rural areas in my country. That is why is going to make as the positive effects(impacts):

80% of girls and rural women will increase in the workspace.
at 90%, the reduction of inequalities in rural areas (BUGENDANA commune) will be visible access to 
empowerment for women and girls at 80%.
80% access to the internet in rural areas will be increased 
at 80%, will increase ICT competence in rural areas. 
70% of job creation by young people in general and girls in particular. 
The impact of this project is that with the training Programs will always be available. 

The following will be as long-term impact: -The competent and active rural population -the creative rural population - competent and active women's groups - a remedy for the skills mismatch in rural areas. - Sustained, shared and sustainable economic growth, full productive employment and decent work for all in rural communities. -access to adequate computer training in rural areas. -better job prospects.

What are your goals within the next year and within the next five years?

the goals  in one year are: -help rural women and girls experiencing digital inclusion and use of ICT

-Help rural women and girls groups to access to the job creation and guide their own business 

-Increase rural women and girls global labor force participation and advancement in their workplace by providing rural girls and women with quality education and training.

In five years, our goals is -to increase number of rural women and girls in technology experience in all rural communities in our country and even in some of east Africa countries.

-Increase technology materials markets and companies in rural communities.


What barriers currently exist for you to accomplish your goals in the next year and in the next five years?

our main barrier, is the lack of support financially and materially because even some few schools in ICT in rural communities don't have an efficient equipment. So without the support it is difficult to achieve our goals and live the impact in rural communities. People in rural communities in general and particularly for rural women and girls  see that the technology is needed according how the world of today is, but with no support they can be motivated.

How do you plan to overcome these barriers?

because our country government cannot afford all country challenges, we have to ask for support to you as organization which is dealing with supporting others in technology in order to make a better world in technology.

Why are you and your team well-positioned to deliver this solution?

The IFRD is a Burundian civil society organization that ensures the integral development of rural women and girls centered on the respect of the equality of sex and the family well-being. It was created in 2017 under the leadership of a group of women and girls with a clear desire to help rural women and girls in vulnerable situations. It was approved by ministerial order Nᵒ:531.966/2019

We describe ourselves to be good to deliver this solution because we work in rural areas for the benefit of rural women and girls and we are an organization of girls and young women in our team we have one who got chance to study and got bachelor degree in ICT and she is application developer and web designer and is the one who proposed the solution and last year we began with small number of young girls and train them and failed because of lacking of support.

We currently partner with the salvation ministry we work with them in one of our programs, promotion to education and social inclusion of rural women and girls which combats the exclusion and discrimination of rural women and girls by facilitating their access to education.
