Solution Overview

Solution Name:

Habitat Tank for Aquaculture

One-line solution summary:

Closed Containment Aquaculture Tank design technology that provides the natural habitat of aquaqulture.

Pitch your solution.

Closed Containment Fish Tank: CCFT

Habitat Tank for Aquaculture: HTA

1

Production costs of CCFTs are high, with HTA, the cost is reduced.
Sea coasts are being destroyed in the production of CCFTs. HTA is being built in the sea.
CCFTs are used in the production of certain fish. Due to the presence of marine sand in HTA, different species can be produced, studied and taken under protection.
Marine products biological protection methods cannot be applied within CCFTs. Biological protection can be done in HTAs.
Only one living thing is produced in CCFTs. More than one living thing can live in HTA.

2

Different design and assembly techniques should be used.
Production costs should be reduced and expanded.
It should be more livable for sea creatures.

3

The life of sea creatures in the production phase will change positively.
Healthier seafood will be produced
It will prevent unemployment living on the coasts, and employment will increase.

Film your elevator pitch.

What specific problem are you solving?

The bad environment that the sea creatures we produce as food live in during the production phase must change.

CCFTs are required in fish production. Statistics http://www.fao.org/3/x8002e/x8...

CCFT:  The building technique is wrong.
           High cost.
           Production stages are destroying nature.
Only a few types of fish are produced.
It reduces human workforce. It increases unemployment.
I do not believe that fish grown in harsh conditions are healthy food.             As with cows and chickens etc.

I believe that CCFT problems will be solved with the HTA I designed.

There are no small family fishermen near the seaside in my area anymore. Only large fishing boats hunt in deep waters for long distances. Those who cannot make a living by fishing are either unemployed or engaged in illegal hunting (dynamite, toxic substances, etc.).
Fish production with CCTFs increases unemployment while trying to meet the needs of people.

HTAs are low cost and accessible systems. The fact that HTAs need workforce will contribute to the production of better quality seafood by reducing unemployment.

Technique for constructing CCTF

It is made using shipbuilding technology. There is no sea sand in it. High cost. The coast is being destroyed.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

“Perseus wore a magic cap that the monsters he hunted down might not see him. We draw the magic cap down over eyes and ears as a make-believe that there are no monsters!” K.Marx

Humans are the biggest problem of sea creatures. By spending less labor, the desire to win a lot of money brought about the end of sea creatures. While our desire to make a lot of money turns us into monsters, we close our eyes not to see that we are monsters. The solutions we produce with the same feelings are far from being sustainable.

We are not monsters. We are human beings, we exist because we care about other lives.

Let's build closed systems for sea creatures, similar to the natural environment. I do not think it's impossible.

If we try to create a closed system targeting the natural life of the sea creature that we see as food, we will also ensure the protection of many living things whose life we are not interested in. The work we do for this purpose will be accepted and supported by everyone.

Build

Closed Containment Fish Tank: CCFT
Habitat Tank for Aquaculture: HTA

CCFTs are produced using shipbuilding techniques. This is wrong, because CCFT is not a ship. The fact that it is produced by ship technique causes high cost and nature destruction. An HTA skeletal system (Biomimicry Octopus) that can be assembled in water. Load bearing center and eight arms. such as steel structural elements of high-rise buildings Fixing will be done in water using epoxy resin. Today, repairs in water are made with epoxy resins.
HTA will be preferred by medium and small businesses due to its low cost, light structure suitable for mass production. For non-coastal sea area more convenient and advantageous setup. Transport cost is lower.

Life and diversity

Having sea sand at the bottom of the HTA will enable the breeding and conservation of many species. It will allow many creatures that help each other throughout life to live together by helping each other. In CCTFs, medication is given when fish are lice. The fish in the HTA will use their instincts to get rid of the lice by rubbing against the sand and getting help from the crab in the sand. HTAs will require more human labor but will be preferred over fish produced within the CCTF.

Sustainability

As a result of the mistakes we have made until today, we need HTAs. Man-made natural environments of sea creatures are indispensable facilities for the future. I aim to raise awareness on the subject. It is necessary for sea creatures to think more about the issue and find a solution as soon as possible.

Workforce and Social Impacts

The population living in coastal areas and previously living by fishing and the excessive unemployment in my country negatively affect our lives. HTAs are facilities that need workforce. I think it will prevent unemployment along with healthy fish production. HTA production also needs labor. Many species that cannot be produced in net cages and CCTFs will be produced.

Barriers and Uncertainty

First, I do not have an extensive knowledge and experience with materials used in the production of HTA. I also don't know how the loads on the carrier arms should be calculated. There is no experimental data on how the HTA responds to adverse weather conditions in the sea and what happens when lowering it to the bottom. It will require extensive study reached the conclusion after a long and difficult process.

Maybe HTA is an untested dream aiming at the happy life of sea creatures.

While preparing this project, mucilage increased intensively in the Marmara Sea of my country, causing the death of sea creatures. If we had HTAs, maybe we could protect sea creatures from mucilage. We watch helplessly as sea creatures die from mucilage.

Which dimension of the Challenge does your solution most closely address?

Create scalable economic opportunities for local communities, including fishing, timber, tourism, and regenerative agriculture, that are aligned with thriving and biodiverse ecosystems

Explain how the problem you are addressing, the solution you have designed, and the population you are serving align with the Challenge.

CCTFs are costly and require crane vessels and are currently almost impossible to build in my country. Earnings can not afford the costs in the long term. The needs of manufacturers can be met in the long run with cheaper, easy-to-build HTAs. This also prevents unemployment through labor demand. It saves many endangered species. It enables high quality production of needed nutrients.

In what city, town, or region is your solution team headquartered?

İzmir, Türkiye

Explain why you selected this stage of development for your solution.

consept
HTA production requires high cost in my opinion. I'm a student, my father is a teacher. We don't have the money to build an HTA. $500 would be enough to build a prototype (1/5) I don't have that much money for now. I had planned to make a prototype in May, it didn't happen because I bought a new computer.

What is your solution’s stage of development?

Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
