Solution Overview

Solution Name:

FOREST PRODUCTS INNOVATIONS

One-line solution summary:

Food Safety and Standards, Processing & Production.

Pitch your solution.

In the African context, the standardization and certification of forest products is an innovation because these products are 99% of the time consumed in their raw state either as food or as medicines, we seek to transform them to secure populations in terms of dosage, quality and packaging to allow the greatest number to consume them. As far as food products are concerned, we want to adapt African cooking methods with industrial manufacturing to preserve African flavours and originality. We intend to manufacture 100% organic products by identifying the active ingredients of each product to manufacture food supplements to reduce the occurrence of non-communicable diseases. Our project aims to build climate resilience by increasing the forest cover with new plantations of trees and plants considered essential to feed humans and animals while sequestering large amounts of CO2.

What specific problem are you solving?

51 million people are threatened by hunger in Central Africa while this sub-region has a biodiversity capable of curbing hunger and malnutrition.

What is your solution?

Our company aims to develop food products and food supplements based on organic products from the primary forests of the Congo Basin, these products have not only very important nutritional properties, but also curative properties. These products help prevent diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. to fight hunger, malnutrition, obesity, , anaemia and Covid 19. .Cultural impact This project will have a leverage effect in terms of promoting cultural industries in Africa because the enhancement of African culture also involves the promotion of traditional uses and technologies, products and consumption patterns.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

African rural and urban people still consume Africann products in a traditional way without transformation or standardization These populations are exposed to several dangers, including viruses transmitted by animals such as primates and bats, and there is no such thing as drug dosages.

We want develop food and food supplements capable of strengthening the hymunitary system, reducing fat and sugar levels.

Which dimension of the Challenge does your solution most closely address?

Aggregate local projects to enable access to financial capital for ecosystem services such as natural hazard mitigation, water quality, and carbon storage.

Explain how the problem you are addressing, the solution you have designed, and the population you are serving align with the Challenge.

Our beneficiaries are malnourished children, adults suffering from hunger, obesity, anaemia etc... Rural populations will be financially empowered through forest product collection activities and young people will find sustainable jobs. Our project has planned to recruit 141 young people in the form of direct employment and empower 50,000 villagers living on less than US$ 2 per day around the community forests where we will collect the products, these people will collect, transport and sell their products. This will allow the villagers to have financial flows to support themselves and create other income-generating activities.Gabonese populations are victims of the ravages of plantations by pachiderm and other wild beasts. Our project which aims to plant 100,000 ha of tree plantations and other plants useful for human and animal consumption goes through our intelligent system of product collection goes to the fure and to reserve the largest quantities of products collected in the forest for animals to intensify reforestation in order to also sequester more and more quantities of Co2 to fight effectively against climatic changes.
