Adeline (Adey) Nyamathi

Dean and Distinguished Professor, Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at UCI

United States

As a Distinguished Professor of Nursing Science and the Founding Dean of the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing at University of California, Irvine (UCI), I have over 30 years of experience implementing community-based participatory research (CBPR) among disenfranchised and hidden populations. I have led an impressive team of multidisciplinary investigators as Principal Investigator of nine NIH-funded RO1s, as well as a number of other NIH grants, funded by NIDA, NIAAA, and NICHD. For three decades, my research has focused on HIV behavioral and prevention research with homeless, drug-using, and impoverished adults and youth. In addition, I have spent over 30 years in academic institutions and have worked well with students and administrators. Focusing on a college-age population who are food and housing insecure is a critical next step.
