Danielle Capalino

Trustee, J. Gurwin Foundation

Danielle Flug Capalino is an investor and advisor focused on early stage companies and scientific initiatives in health and wellness. She is a trustee at the J.Gurwin Foundation, her family foundation, and is a faculty member at the George Washington University School of Medical and Health Sciences.

Danielle is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and also holds a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins. She is interested in the intersection of health sciences, business and social impact.

In addition to her professional and academic activities, Danielle is a member of the Board of Advisors at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition. She also serves on the board of the Joint Distribution Committee – the world’s largest Jewish social service organization that provides rescue, relief, and renewal work to individuals in over 70 countries.

Danielle’s expertise in the gut microbiome and brain-gut connection has led to several speaking and corporate and scientific advisory roles along with the publication of three books. She is the author of Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach” (Countryman Press, 2017), which People Magazine recognized as one of the top seven books on Health and Wellness in 2017; “The Microbiome Diet Plan” (Rockridge Press, 2017) and “Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach: Drinks” (Countryman Press, 2018).

Danielle lives in New York City with her husband and son.
