Senior Advisor & Director of Innovation, UN Women
Fiona Bayat-Renoux is currently Senior Advisor to UN Women’s Deputy Executive Director and the Director of Innovation for UN Women. As the Director of Innovation, she is responsible for implementation of UN Women’s Innovation Strategy which focuses on (i) growing the innovation market for women; (ii) mainstreaming gender throughout the innovation cycle; (iii) promoting women as innovators and entrepreneurs; and (iv) directly developing innovative solutions that advance women and girls. Bayat-Renoux led the development of UN Women’s innovative “Buy from Women” Platform that links women to markets, information, and finance. She also supports teams working on leveraging technology to increase access to education, as well as on exploring the potential of blockchain technology in development and humanitarian contexts. Prior to joining UN Women, Bayat-Renoux worked with UNDP, UNOPS, IRC, and the Asia Foundation. She spent almost 9 years in various crisis-affected countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, DRC, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, managing large scale programs. She holds a Master degree in Economics and has co-authored a number of publications and reports.
