Julie Wertheimer

Project Director, The Pew Charitable Trusts

Julie Wertheimer is the Project Director for the Public Safety Performance Project at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where she oversees the criminal and juvenile justice research and policy portfolios, including technical assistance to states and counties, policy analysis and development, and public and policymaker education on justice issues. Before joining Pew, Wertheimer was the Senior Director of Criminal Justice for the City of Philadelphia. In that capacity, she led strategic initiatives across the criminal justice portfolio, from jail population reduction, to addressing recidivism and violence prevention. Prior to her work in public safety and criminal justice, she served as Assistant Budget Director for the City of Philadelphia. Wertheimer holds an MPA from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Diplomatic History from the University of Pennsylvania.
