Her research adopts a behavior-centric, data-driven, field-based approach to study fundamental and emerging operations management problems along several general topics: (I) the design and impact of online platforms to enable efficient physical supply chains in resource constrained environments, (II) the role of information transparency in driving positive behaviors, especially for environmental and social responsibility, and (III) the impact of a supply chain’s structural properties on the behaviors of various stakeholders. Karen has a keen interest and passion in advancing the efficiency and social welfare within food and agricultural supply chains, as well as promoting environmentally and socially responsible operations. She actively collaborates with both public and private partners on the ground to generate positive impacts to the society.
