Kat Esser, MID has over 20 years of experience leading the development and execution of strategic innovation portfolios that drive organizational growth at scale for public and private sector health systems, academic medical centers and life science organizations. Currently, she serves as Principal, Health Services Innovation for Health Equity, on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Social Responsibility & Impact team. In this role, Kat leads the strategy for Access to High Quality, Culturally Responsive Health Services aimed at achieving meaningful, measurable SDoH outcomes using technology to scale global access to health and wellness. Kat also serves as a Health Equity subject-matter expert (SME) across Amazon’s Healthcare Businesses. Prior to Amazon, Esser has held national and international strategic innovation leadership roles in the health space for organizations including; Kaiser Permanente, Cleveland Clinic, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Children’s National Hospital, Pfizer, Center for Disease Control (CDC), Health & Human Services (HHS), National Health Services (NHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), Radboud University, Veteran’s Affairs (VHA & VBA), Military Health System (MHS), and Deloitte’s Healthcare & Life Science Practice. Kat holds a master’s degree in industrial design from Rhode Island School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from Lafayette College.
