Nassar Al Mubarak

Director, Office of Strategic Affairs, Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi || Judge for the Health Workforce Innovation Prize

Nassar Al Mubarak is a director at the Office of Strategic Affairs at the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, where he oversees various philanthropic initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Nassar directs program design, oversight and communications efforts for His Highness's global health initiatives, with a specific focus on disease elimination. In this role, Nassar leads strategy and partnership development in support of the Emirates Polio Campaign, an initiative implemented by the UAE's Pakistan Assistance Program with generous support from His Highness that delivers polio vaccines in Pakistan. He collaborates with the wider polio donor community on advocacy and communications efforts, and in 2014 he served as a producer for Every Last Child, a documentary chronicling the challenges and triumphs of local officials, the WHO and volunteers in Pakistan as they work to deliver vaccinations in the hardest-to-reach communities.

In 2017 Nassar also helped to launch the Reaching the Last Mile Fund, a new initiative that focuses on neglected tropical diseases. The RLMF is a US$ 100 Million multi-donor fund that aims to serve as a proof of concept for eliminating river blindness and lymphatic filariasis by focusing on 6 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Nassar also supports set-up efforts to establish the newly announced Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE), an institution focused on operational research and advocacy around disease elimination, which will launch in Abu Dhabi in with the support of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Since joining the Crown Prince Court in 2009, Nassar has helped to establish and incubate institutions of national societal priority, including the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program, which promotes cross-cultural exchange and aims to equip Emirati youth with skills for the future through leadership development programs.

Previously, Nassar served as a consultant at Booz & Company’s Middle East practice, where he worked on economic planning, governance design and optimization projects, primarily in the public sector. Nassar holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Boston University.
