Dr. Steve Fletcher is an applied coastal and ocean policy specialist with 20 years of experience. Steve is Chief Strategy Officer at the UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), ocean lead for the International Resource Panel, and Professor of Marine Policy at Plymouth University. Steve has substantial experience developing strategic approaches to address marine and coastal management challenges in complex organisational and legal contexts, and extensive professional experience working with senior decision-makers within UN and inter-governmental agencies. Steve has secured and led large international projects focused on the conservation and management of marine and coastal resources. His research has been widely published in the principal sector journals and he is a regular contributor to national and global events. He lives in Cambridge (UK) which is a long way from the sea.
