Health Hub
- Zambia
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
The Zambian health sector faces multiple challenges. Mortality rates remain very high due to an inadequate supply of health care services and a critical lack of skilled health care professionals. There is inequitable access to basic health services in Zambia between provinces and between urban and rural areas. In urban areas, 99 percent of households are within 5 kilometers of a health facility compared to 50 percent in rural areas. In Zambia, household expenditures on health vary according to location. Poor households spend the highest proportion of their income on health, which can be up to 10% of total expenditure when in kind costs are included. Long distances and cost and lack of transport in a large but sparsely populated country like Zambia is a key determinant of health seeking behavior.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Zambia has a doctor-patient ratio of one doctor for every 12,000 patients, which is below the WHO's acceptable standard of one physician for every 5,000 people.
While the Zambian government is striving to solve the problem, underprivileged and marginalized communities are often the ones who suffer the most. When one is unwell, death is merely a stone's throw away due to a lack of health personnel and medical facilities.
With fewer medical facilities and medical personnel to attend to sick people in most remote communities, many have to travel long distances in search of help on foot, a nightmare walk on sick and weak limbs while some are lucky on bicycles and motorcycles.
In the case of Sanga village, a rural settlement in the Eastern province of Zambia, the nearest health post named Mutilizi Health post is 13 kilometers away. Sick and pregnant mothers have to endure a nightmare walk on sick and weak limbs.
The gap between rich and poor continues to widen in Zambia. Those on the poorer end of the spectrum are not afforded basic rights such as healthcare.
Many Zambian's who live in rural areas have to walk more than 10 kilometers to access the nearest health facility. The situation becomes much worse for pregnant women and those in dire need of medical attention and endure a nightmare walk on sick and weak limbs.
These hospitals also do not have enough personnel to meet the needs of the people. The following are the condensed problems shown below.
No easy way exists to book and schedule an appointment with a doctor without visiting the hospital and endure long waiting times and queues.
Limited access to specialist doctors: Difficulty seeing doctors due to long distances, busy schedules, or physical limitations.
Prescription refill hassles: Refilling prescriptions requires additional trips to the pharmacy.
Inconvenient pharmacy locations: Limited pharmacy locations can be barriers, especially for those without transportation or in rural areas who need urgent and emergency medicines.
Hidden healthcare costs: Travel expenses, parking fees, and hidden charges can add up alongside the cost of the healthcare service itself.
We have developed a telehealth Web platform for online doctor consultations via( video/audio/chat), were users can schedule and book appointments, receive prescription refills & buy medicine online on our pharmacy marketplace & wait for delivery/pickup. This will enable users to:
Consult with licensed doctors online via( video/audio/chat) anytime anywhere.
Schedule and book appointments from anytime anywhere.
Refill prescriptions easily. No need for extra pharmacy visits.
Buy medicine online and wait for delivery/pickup.
Save money. Reduce costs from travel, parking, and hidden fees.

- 3. Good Health and Well-Being
- Prototype
HealthHub is currently in the prototype stage of development. We have designed and developed a functional prototype of our telehealth platform, which includes core features such as virtual consultation capabilities, medication ordering, and user authentication.
We selected the prototype stage because we have successfully built a working version of our platform that demonstrates its key functionalities and user interface. However, the prototype is not yet fully polished or ready for widespread use. We are actively testing and refining the prototype based on user feedback and technical evaluations to ensure it meets the highest standards of performance, usability, and security.
By being in the prototype stage, we have the opportunity to iterate and improve upon our solution before scaling it for commercial launch. This stage allows us to gather valuable insights, validate our assumptions, and make necessary adjustments to optimize the platform for real-world deployment
We selected this stage because our team has invested significant time, resources, and effort into developing and refining the platform to ensure its functionality, usability, and effectiveness. While there may be minor adjustments and optimizations remaining, the majority of the development work has been completed, and we are confident in the readiness of our solution to be deployed and tested in real-world settings.
Additionally, reaching this stage of development demonstrates our commitment to delivering a high-quality, market-ready product that meets the needs and expectations of our users. We have conducted thorough testing and validation processes to ensure that our solution is robust, reliable, and user-friendly, positioning us for the next phase of deployment and growth.
We are applying to Solve because we believe in the power of collaborative innovation to address complex global challenges and drive positive change. Solve's mission to support Solver teams with both monetary and non-monetary support aligns closely with our vision for HealthHub, and we see Solve as an invaluable platform for advancing our telehealth solution.

At HealthHub, we have a comprehensive plan for achieving financial sustainability as we progress from the prototype stage to full-scale implementation. Our strategy involves a combination of revenue streams and funding sources to cover our expected expenses and support our mission of improving healthcare accessibility and quality:
1. Telehealth Services Revenue:
Our primary revenue stream comes from providing telemedicine and telepharmacy services through our platform. We plan to generate revenue by charging a commission per completed consultation and medication purchase on our platform. This model allows us to earn revenue directly from the services we provide to patients and healthcare providers.
2. Subscription or Membership Fees:
In addition to transaction-based revenue, we may explore subscription or membership fees for premium features or services on our platform. This could include access to advanced telehealth tools, personalized health management services, or exclusive content and resources.
3. Partnerships and Collaborations:
We plan to establish strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations, insurance providers, pharmaceutical companies, and other stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. These partnerships may involve revenue-sharing agreements, joint ventures, or service contracts that generate additional income for HealthHub.
4. Grants and Funding:
While we are currently in the pre-revenue stage, we will actively pursue grants, awards, and funding opportunities to support our research, development, and operational expenses. These funds will enable us to continue refining our telehealth platform, expanding our user base, and reaching underserved communities.
5. Investment Capital:
As we demonstrate traction and growth, we may seek investment capital from venture capitalists, angel investors, or impact investors to accelerate our expansion and scale our operations. Investment funding will allow us to invest in technology infrastructure, marketing initiatives, talent acquisition, and geographic expansion.
Evidence of Success:
While we are in the prototype stage and have not yet generated revenue, we have received positive feedback and validation from stakeholders, including potential users, healthcare professionals, and investors. This feedback indicates strong market demand for our telehealth solution and confidence in our ability to execute our business model effectively.
- Additionally, our team's track record of entrepreneurial success and industry expertise positions us well to attract funding and support as we progress toward financial sustainability.
In summary, our plan for financial sustainability involves diversifying revenue streams, leveraging partnerships and collaborations, pursuing grants and funding opportunities, and potentially raising investment capital. While we are in the pre-revenue stage, we have received positive feedback and interest from stakeholders, providing early evidence of the viability of our funding strategy. As we continue to develop and scale our telehealth platform, we are confident in our ability to achieve financial sustainability while making a meaningful impact on healthcare accessibility and quality.
