Solving for the climate crisis
In recent years, the world has hit record-high values of greenhouse gas emissions. In order to mitigate and adapt to this changing world, we need to bring them down to net zero by 2050. Our climate efforts focus on discovering and supporting climate technologies that can significantly cut emissions or help communities adapt to the growing impacts of the climate crisis.
By engaging with climate adaptation technologies that are rooted in the communities they serve, our innovators are implementing cutting-edge climate change solutions that center on sustainable impact.
“ The prize funding we've received from Solve has helped us grow our solution further by enabling disadvantaged groups through access to clean energy and energy efficient technology that is improving their livelihoods and giving them an opportunity to increase their income.”
– Salma Islam | Project Manager, SOLshare | 2020 Solver team lead
Meet the Climate innovators
Our climate Solver teams contribute a net reduction of 4.1+ million metric tons of CO2. That’s equivalent to taking 870,000 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles off the road each year. And they’re not stopping there.
Climate advisors
At MIT Solve, we know that the impacts of climate change vary worldwide. We strive to be at the forefront of responsible, global climate action, and so we need advice from responsible, global advocates. These advisors bring decades of experience tackling climate challenges worldwide, from tech to policy and advocacy to Indigenous leadership, and their insights will help us be responsive and supportive of communities everywhere.
