Our Solution

The clay irrigation project

Our tagline:

using clay pots for irrigation in dry areas

Our pitch:

1.problem: lack of enough water for irrigation leading to hunger  and starvation.

2:am proposing the use of clay pots as  sub surface irrigation method which uses less water as compared to other methods of irrigation.

3: the project will assist the community by provide job opportunities to the youths and women who will be making the pots, It will also ensure that there is consistent supply of food throughout the year as the water collected from rain will be used in small quantities for irrigation.this will eliminate hunger and malnutrition in the community.

4:the major barrier is lacking the finances to ensure the project reaches more people since people are already willing to purchase the systems.

How we use technology in our project:

this is not a new technology but an ancient one which was used a long time ago but most people in this generation are not aware of it. I want to reintroduce the use of clay pots as a form of irrigation since the method can even be applied in the driest regions. this ancient technology will assist alot in ensuring zero hunger is experienced in all the communities and also the world.

What makes our project innovative:

my project is innovative as am going to show my communities how they can make raised beds with the locally  available materials to make the gardens and how they will use the clay pots as a means of irrigation. This method  does not require a lot of weeding or a lot of land preparation since when the raised beds are made they will last for a long period of time together with the clay pots.

How our project will be accessible and affordable to our community:

I have a farm where people can come and learn about the gardening system. and the project is quite cheap as the pots only go for 1 dollar each and the materials for making the raised beds are accessed at a cheaper price also. I will also ensure that I hold training sessions with the community to educate them about the project.

as of now, i have about 20 requisitions on the systems, am yet to get the funds to ensure that I serve them. So far I have educating them about the systems of which they are willing to acquire.

Our future project goals:

My future goal is that my project reaches more people especially those affected by hunger and malnutrition in all part of sub sahara Africa. My plans for my project by next year is that I reach more people with the systems and that hunger will be a foregone issue. this will assist in ensuring that the community focus more on educating their children and also be part of raising the economy of our country.

Highlights from our project:

Since am yet to sell my product am yet to get any media attention. Am hoping that once I get the funds to run the project I will get to that point. Am happy that people are willing to nget the system from my young generation to the elderly.
