Our pitch:

Signs TV propagates Social, Economic, Political and Talent Development of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Broadcasts in Sign Language with Voice as an override.Our programming will ensure that the economic literacy and information is adequately articulated to the PWDs.

The programming is made to ensure that the PWDs themselves are the drivers on the shows and will discuss issues intimate to their hearts.

What makes our solution innovative:

We are a licensed TV station propagating social, economic, political and talent development of persons with disabilities.

How technology is integral to our solution:

Technology, especially digital broadcasting migration, has really helped to effectively disseminate financial literacy information en masse.

Our solution goals over the next 12 months:

We use both qualitative and quantitative measures. Qualitative helps us ascertain the impact based on the literacy indicators, while quantitative enables us to measure the numbers in terms of gender, type of disability, age and county.

Our vision over the next three to five years to grow and scale our solution to affect the lives of more people:

Being the only TV station in the world terrestrially we plan to roll in Africa by getting to the DSTV platform to reach out to a good number of PWDs. This will enable them acquire financial literacy.

How we will reach and retain our customers or beneficiaries:

The Deaf have been greatly empowered through constant broadcasting of the current affairs and opportunities in Sign Language. This group had initially been marginalized and could not access broadcast information for decision making.

How many people we are currently serving with our solution:

We have employed 65% PWDs in our workforce to enable them engage with the fellow PWDs on the daily TV prgramming and all this has been made possible by the digital migration.

Explaining our organization:

July 2011, head quartered in Nairobi, we operate from Ridgeways Nairobi, currently employing 22 people where 65% are PWDs.

Founded by Mr. Luke Muleka and Jared Getanda, still leading the organization.

Our revenue model:

We plan to involve PWDs in the information generation, training of trainers (PWDs) who will go to the rural of rurals to train the fellow PWDs the same will be showcased on the TV station in the business segment.
Partnership Potential

Why we are applying to Solve:

Expand our programming to accommodate 10 persons with disabilities and 8 able bodied persons. Acquire 3 more videography cameras and 1 broadcasting van to enable collection of information from the rural areas. We are going to spend 45% percent of the fund to market our presence in the market, acquire 6 billboards in Nairobi for two months. We shall also acquire buses branded as a moving billboards for 3 months in Nairobi.

The key barriers for our solution:

Internal Risks: Financial, Human Resource risks, we plan to fund raise and train more persons to mitigate this risks.

External Risks: Expansion to the region as we integrate a unified sign language.
