What specific problem are you solving?
Pakistan’s mental health system faces profound challenges, with an acute shortage of trained professionals, only 0.19 per 100,000 people which according to WHO, is far below the global average. Fewer than 500 psychiatrists serve over 240 million people. This critical gap is further intensified by rapid population growth, economic and political instability, and the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health. As a result, a vast majority of individuals remain undiagnosed, untreated, or misdiagnosed. Even when patients do access services, clinicians operate under immense constraints: overwhelming caseloads, limited diagnostic tools, and insufficient patient histories. In such settings, assessments often rely heavily on subjective interpretation, shaped not only by clinical training but also by deeply embedded sociocultural norms. Dependence on observational checklists can overlook subtle but critical behavioral cues. Given these constraints, technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence can become a viable solution to support overburdened mental health systems and assist professionals in managing increasingly complex and stressful clinical environments.
What is your solution?
PsyLogic is an AI-powered, multimodal diagnostic assistant designed to support mental health professionals during patient consultations. The system captures and analyzes speech, facial expressions, posture, and language in real time. Using machine learning, PsyLogic interprets vocal tone and rhythm, transcribes speech, analyzes emotional sentiment in text, detects micro-expressions, and evaluates body language using computer vision and pose estimation. These insights are presented through an intuitive dashboard that highlights emotional trends, behavioral patterns, and potential risk factors. A retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) model—fine-tuned with WHO and APA clinical guidelines—then compiles a comprehensive session report, complete with tailored recommendations for the mental health practitioner. To prioritize comfort and accessibility, PsyLogic also offers an audio-only mode for patients who prefer not to use video. Its modular architecture enables integration with existing clinical workflows and electronic health systems. Scalable across outpatient clinics, hospitals, and telehealth services, PsyLogic empowers clinicians with richer, real-time data, making mental health assessments more accurate, informed, and efficient.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
PsyLogic serves both mental health professionals and their patients, particularly in underserved, low-resource, or high-stigma environments. For clinicians, PsyLogic acts as a diagnostic companion, providing objective, multimodal insights into a patient’s emotional and psychological state. By reducing diagnostic uncertainty and alleviating documentation burdens through automated session summaries and visual dashboards, the platform enables professionals to deliver more accurate, attentive, and effective care. For patients, especially those who may struggle to express their mental state or face cultural stigma around seeking help, PsyLogic supports more patient-centered care. With clearer insights and fewer assumptions, practitioners can better understand nuanced symptoms and tailor treatment accordingly. Its privacy-conscious, audio-only mode also helps increase comfort and accessibility for users who are hesitant about video interactions. On a broader scale, PsyLogic can contribute to systemic change by generating anonymized data that can inform public health strategies, detect emerging trends, and guide smarter resource allocation. By equipping professionals with ethical, human- centered AI, PsyLogic ultimately bridges the care gap and democratizes access to mental health support—impacting both individual lives and the systems meant to protect them.
