What specific problem are you solving?
We are solving the problem of inconsistent access to effective antibiotics in community settings due to poor stock control and fragmented distribution in low-resource environments. In Kenya and many LMICs, pharmacies are a primary point of access to antibiotics—yet they operate with minimal data infrastructure, leading to frequent stockouts, inefficiencies in restocking, and limited ability to anticipate demand. This worsens antimicrobial resistance as patients may turn to substandard alternatives when effective options are unavailable. In Kenya, over 50% of the population seeks care in private pharmacies, yet essential medicines—including antibiotics—face stockouts exceeding 60% in some settings. Globally, poor supply chain visibility contributes to delayed or inappropriate antibiotic access for millions. Ohospital addresses this by digitizing pharmacy stock management, enabling real-time supplier linkages, and optimizing last-mile logistics, starting with seven onboarded pharmacies. The solution uses sales agents, route optimization, and data tracking to improve access, resupply efficiency, and profitability of pharmacies—enhancing availability of quality antibiotics where they're needed most.
What is your solution?
Ohospital is a digital inventory and logistics platform that helps community pharmacies in low-resource settings improve access to effective antibiotics. It works by connecting pharmacies to supply in real time, tracking stock levels, predicting demand, and coordinating restocking through field sales agents using motorcycles and optimized delivery routes. Pharmacies input their inventory data into the platform, which monitors stock levels and flags potential shortages. The system then alerts sales agents, who coordinate with suppliers such as Nira and Dawa manufacturers to dispatch stock. By integrating logistics planning, Ohospital ensures fast and efficient last-mile delivery of antibiotics. The platform also provides pharmacies with analytics dashboards to help them understand product movement, plan procurement, and reduce expired stock. For individual healthcare providers, it offers digital tools for patient scheduling and follow-ups. Patients benefit from organized service delivery and better access to essential antibiotics. Ohospital is mobile-enabled and designed for low-bandwidth environments. It combines data-driven stock visibility, human-centered logistics, and strategic supplier linkages to create a scalable solution that improves antibiotic availability at the community level. With seven pharmacies already onboarded, Ohospital is actively improving healthcare delivery where it’s needed most.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Ohospital serves community pharmacies, healthcare providers, and the patients who depend on them for timely access to effective antibiotics. Our primary users—small and mid-sized pharmacies in urban and peri-urban Kenya—are currently underserved by fragmented supply chains, poor logistics, and lack of inventory data. They often operate without digital tools, leading to frequent stockouts, expired medications, and missed revenue opportunities. Ohospital directly improves the operations of these pharmacies by digitizing inventory management, connecting them to verified suppliers, and coordinating restocking through an agent-led delivery network. This streamlines stock control, improves profitability, and ensures a consistent supply of essential medicines like antibiotics. Our secondary beneficiaries are patients in low-resource settings who rely on these pharmacies as their first point of care. Many face limited access to effective antibiotics and are vulnerable to substandard or falsified drugs. By improving stock visibility and distribution, Ohospital ensures these patients can access the right medicines when needed—reducing delays, improving health outcomes, and supporting responsible antibiotic use. Ultimately, Ohospital empowers pharmacies as frontline healthcare providers and strengthens medicine access for the communities they serve.
