What specific problem are you solving?
Indonesia now carries the world’s second-highest tuberculosis (TB) burden, with an estimated 1.09 million new cases and 130,000 deaths in 2024 alone. While the country has taken important steps, like aligning with the Global END TB Strategy and rolling out a centralized Tuberculosis Information System (TBIS) since 2018, the numbers aren’t moving fast enough. We’re still behind.
The problem isn’t that we lack data. TBIS has done its job collecting detailed case-level information from across the country. But the system wasn’t built to think, only to report. Right now, that data mostly sits in silos, summarized in dashboards, rarely used to guide real-time decisions. This means missed chances to predict where the next spike will hit, to flag patients at risk of dropping out of treatment, or to see resistance patterns forming before they spread.
But until we close that gap, we risk repeating the same mistakes: late responses, rising transmission, and opportunities lost, not for lack of information, but for lack of using it.
What is your solution?
Our Solution: TB Watch 360
What it is: An AI-powered web platform designed to support public health officials in Indonesia.
What it does: It transforms complex national and local health data into clear, actionable insights for Tuberculosis (TB) control, specifically down to the very local sub-district (Kelurahan) level. The platform helps officials visualize high-risk areas, anticipate future TB trends, and decide where to best allocate resources like mobile clinics or testing facilities.
How it works:
Data Integration: TB Watch 360 aggregates and standardizes relevant health data (TB cases, demographics, facility locations) from SITB, mapped accurately to Kelurahan boundaries.
AI-Powered Analysis: Using AI to generate interactive, high-resolution maps showing TB prevalence and risk hotspots.
Produce forecasts of monthly/quarterly TB incidence using time-series models (like Prophet).
Calculate optimal locations for new health resources to maximize community coverage using optimization algorithms.
Actionable Dashboards: Insights are presented through simple, intuitive web dashboards accessible to authorized health personnel, for timely, evidence-based decisions.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
TB Watch 360 primarily serves healthcare officials, from the Ministry of Health down to Sub-District Health Offices/Community Health Centers (Puskesmas), by generating actionable insights that enable rapid decision-making with precise targeting of interventions. Acknowledging the latent and long-term nature of Tuberculosis, the platform's core mission is to guide strategic health initiatives towards communities where TB is currently prevalent and likely to emerge in the future. Ultimately, the intended impact benefits the Indonesian people-at-large, particularly vulnerable populations such as those in low socioeconomic settings or remote areas with poor healthcare access, who are disproportionately affected by high rates of active and drug-resistant TB.
