What specific problem are you solving?
MUSO ELITE addresses three interconnected urban challenges in Senegal: air pollution, limited women’s participation in transport, and the lack of efficient, last-mile logistics. Senegal’s urban areas, particularly Dakar, face high levels of traffic congestion and CO₂ emissions. In 2022 alone, Senegal emitted 11.32 million metric tons of CO₂ from fuel combustion (IEA). Transportation is a major contributor to this pollution, yet most ride-hailing options rely on fossil fuels. At the same time, the formal transport sector remains heavily male-dominated, with women making up only 6% of the workforce in Dakar (World Bank). This excludes women from a growing sector and leaves female commuters with limited access to safe, gender-sensitive mobility options. Lastly, local businesses and e-commerce platforms suffer from poor delivery infrastructure, slowing economic growth and job creation in logistics. MUSO ELITE directly addresses these issues by deploying a 100% electric fleet of taxis and tricycles, operated entirely by women. Our model promotes clean mobility, inclusive employment, and reliable delivery services—especially in underserved urban and peri-urban areas. With nearly 8.5 million urban residents in Senegal and rising demand for sustainable transport, the scalability and impact potential of MUSO ELITE is both significant locally and replicable globally.
What is your solution?
MUSO ELITE is a women-led electric mobility platform that provides clean, reliable, and inclusive transport and delivery services in urban Senegal. We operate a 100% electric fleet of vehicles and tricycles across three services: MUSO CARPOOL: Affordable, shared rides for commuters during peak hours. MUSO EXPRESS: Flexible, on-demand taxi service available throughout the day. MUSO DELIVERY: Last-mile logistics using electric tricycles for small goods. Our fleet is powered by durable, low-emission electric vehicles sourced from Mbay Mobility and vetted manufacturers. These vehicles come with full maintenance support and warranties, reducing downtime and operating costs. The service is managed through a custom-built mobile app, currently in development by our in-house IT team. The app enables real-time ride booking, driver dispatch, route tracking, and digital payments. It also integrates AI for smart dispatching and predictive maintenance, and features a Green Miles Rewards program that incentivizes eco-friendly usage. What makes our solution unique is its inclusive ownership model: after three years of service, women drivers can buy back their vehicles and become independent operator-partners. MUSO ELITE is not just a mobility solution—it’s a scalable, tech-enabled model for sustainable transport and women’s economic empowerment.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
MUSO ELITE serves two key underserved populations: urban commuters and unemployed women in Senegal. Our primary users are urban and peri-urban residents—especially in Dakar—who face unreliable, expensive, and polluting transportation options. Many are low- to middle-income workers, students, or small business owners. Women commuters, in particular, often lack safe and respectful mobility options in a male-dominated sector. Our second and equally critical focus is on women seeking economic opportunity. In Senegal, women represent only 6% of the formal transport workforce (World Bank), facing barriers such as limited access to training, stable income, and asset ownership. MUSO ELITE directly addresses these gaps through a 100% electric, women-operated fleet. For commuters and businesses, we offer affordable, safe, and clean transportation and delivery services via three channels: MUSO CARPOOL, MUSO EXPRESS, and MUSO DELIVERY. For women drivers, we offer formal employment, paid training, health coverage, and the opportunity to become vehicle owners through a structured buy-back program—transforming them from workers into entrepreneurs. Over five years, MUSO ELITE will employ 550 women and serve over 3 million rides and deliveries, providing not just mobility, but economic empowerment and environmental progress for underserved communities.
