Irish Dairy Milk Nigeria LTD
- Nigeria
As a dairy entrepreneur, the critical aspects are that : Raw milk will be collected from the Farms, transported to the cooling tanks, processed and packaged. The farm will have a cattle cross breeding programme where which semen and imported heifers will boost and improve the local NDAMA stock on site and eventually help us to attain a high per litre milk production for the Cattle. The funding if I win the elevate prize will go into paying for the cattle cross breeding semen, heifers and the overall processes which will effectively improve local cattle productivity and improve income earning for cattle farmers. Our target is Zero Grazing to eliminate herders and farmersclashes.
Products/
There is no milk company in the zone as yet, which produces milk. This creates a market which we are eager to seize and possibly monopolize. The elevate prize will support our media and marketing strategy.
Irish Dairy Milk Nigeria are establishing a dairy supply chain as a result of new
government regulations restricting the importation of milk products. Irish Dairy Milk have been granted land for dairy production and processing capacity and are in partnerships with international expertise and technology providers to help meet their aspirations as a leader in Nigerian milk production.
Now Newmark BROS LTD (NNB) is a company registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. NNB brought the Irish Dairy Milk franchise into Nigeria and together with private individuals formed the company Irish Dairy Milk Nigeria Limited basically then to import finished dairy milk products to Nigeria. With the restrictions on milk imports into Nigeria, we have restrategised towards milk production in Nigeria and have formed new alliances to foster this new vision which will tangibly create jobs, increase earnings for cattle rearers and reduce the farmers herders clashes to enshrine stability in Nigeria's agro sector.

Irish Dairy Milk Nigeria Limited is a coalition of entrepreneurs keen on empowering farmers in Nigeria's agro allied sector.
Overview:
Nigeria consumes an average 1.7 million tonnes of milk annually, out of
which it produces 600,000 tonnes locally and imports the balance of1.1 million tonnes. Meanwhile as at 2017 the country had a cattle population of 14 million out of which about 900,000 were capable of producing milk at an
average rate of 0.7 - 1.5 litres daily. This production rate diminishes in the dry season to about 0.5 litre per cow, especially when the animals have to travel long distances in search of fodder and water often destroying farmlands and resulting in deadly clashes with farmers. However, with improved husbandry at our disposal the cows will produce 30 litres of milk on average daily.
Description:
The project provides for construction of the dairy plant and livestock improvement centre as part of the larger economic sustainability programme to create jobs, reduce farmer’s pastoralist clashes and reduce dependence on imports.
Market Overview
Nigeria spends an estimated $1.3 billion annually on dairy imports.
Generally, the huge population of Nigeria is currently underserved even with the huge resources spent on milk imports.
Irish Dairy Milk (IDM) Nigeria Limited was established specifically to address the needs of the high demand of milk and other dairy products in Nigeria. IDM is implementing a backward integration strategy for milk production in Nigeria. This has never happened before as Nigeria depends on imports.
Business Model:
IDM Nigeria Limited has provided all technical services on a Livestock Improvement Business in Niger State (Nigeria AI Straw Centre).
Our business concept incorporates the bringing together of breeding technology (in AI straws and knowledge) from Europe, an AI service on site, a farm family support service led by senior personnel with extensive Livestock skills and
knowledge. To minimise risk, the project is established as a pilot project.
Aim
The business model for small holder farms is based around providing improved genetics to increase livestock productivity as well as to improve the nutritional
value of livestock products. Through the use of improved livestock and
knowledge in farming systems, the income of farm families will increase as well as the nutritional/health status of the farm household. Farmers and the agencies serving farmers in Nigeria will gain additional knowledge which will
spread to other farm families and the wider community. Knowledge on how to manage a profitable livestock improvement business will be integrated into thei
Agri-Food value chain on site enabling to extend this knowledge to other states
in Nigeria. These are our novel entry points.
Ensuring sufficient food supplies is one of the most basic challenges facing any human society. Organized and efficient food production supports population growth and the development of cities and towns, trade, and other essential elements of human progress.
Agriculture can reduce chronic diseases, infectious diseases, food safety, and environmental and occupational health.
We have paid attention to: Train Staff. Spend time teaching, training, and periodically reviewing routines and milking procedures. Making sure partners and employees understand them. We have translated materials into local dialects for easy assimilation. We also use Appropriate Consultants by developing a team of people with expertise in various areas to help sort through complex issues and to help make informed decisions.
These steps have worked to build capacity and sustainability.
