The Problem

Democratic space is shrinking as the foundations of healthy governance erode. Accountability weakens, corruption is normalized, and evidence is sidelined in policymaking. Misinformation pollutes the public sphere while trusted conveners are limited. Low civic literacy and rising apathy reduce citizens’ capacity to organize—reinforcing power concentration and democratic backsliding.

The Solution

Post-election, our technology-based movement continues through Bijak Memantau, shifting our audience from informed voters to active citizens—informed, equipped to monitor legislation and public policy under the winning administration, and able to form and articulate public demands.

As an independent, one-stop platform, Bijak Memantau offers a real-time, accessible, and transparent way for citizens to track government accountability, amplified through in-person engagements and social media content. By turning online engagement into meaningful civic participation, this approach helps prevent a widening gap between citizens and government, strengthening accountability and transparency in the democratic process.

Stats

Bijak Memantau has reached over 2.1 million people through multiple channels, including its web platform, social media, and in-person and virtual events.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves politically aware urban Indonesians—especially digitally connected citizens under 40 who are motivated to participate in democracy but often distrust formal political channels and face fragmented information. How it impacts their lives: 1. Pre-election: Through Bijak Memilih, we provide credible, non-partisan information that translates complex policy debates into accessible formats—helping young and first-time voters make informed choices. 2. Post-election: Through Bijak Memantau, we enable citizens to track legislation and public policy implementation, supporting accountability and sustained civic engagement beyond voting. 3. Community-building: We complement our platforms with offline discussions and digital campaigns that foster inclusive dialogue and reduce polarization. By strengthening political literacy, countering misinformation, and enabling continuous participation, we help citizens engage constructively beyond the ballot box and rebuild trust in democratic institutions.
