Claims Inefficiencies: Hospitals struggle with manual claim processes, leading to delayed payments and errors. Fraud and Lack of Transparency: Medical insurers lose money to fraudulent claims and lack visibility into the claims lifecycle. Fragmented Health Records: Lack of a unified system for accessing patients’ health records across hospitals, insurers, or even countries, forcing patients to rely on physical documents like vaccination cards. • Healthcare fraud costs the industry $455 billion annually, according to the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association. • Fraudulent claims comprise 30% of health insurance payouts in some African markets. • Manual claims processing delays payments by up to 90 days, straining hospital cash flows and limiting patient access to care. • Over 60% of healthcare facilities in low-income regions still rely on paper-based records, leading to inefficiencies, misdiagnoses, and redundant tests. • More than 50% of healthcare expenses in Sub-Saharan Africa are paid out of pocket, making affordability a significant barrier.

Laaffy serves three key stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem: patients, healthcare providers (hospitals and pharmacies), and insurance companies, with a focus on making healthcare accessible, transparent, efficient, and fair. Patient Access Mobile app for health policy verification, secure identification, hospital locator and booking, tracking of health coverage, and claim validations. Also, unique patient identifiers for all hospital visits across health facilities and countries where Laaffy is available. Healthcare Providers: Hospital management system, transparent claims submission and automated tracking tools, full visibility of the claim payment journey, and communication channel with insurers for inquiries. Insurers: Dashboards with real-time claims data, fraud alerts, payment tracking, and detailed analytics. Long-Term: USSD option for remote areas, vaccination passport with official stamps, and cross-border interoperability for all Laaffy users.
