What specific problem are you solving?
The robotics education ecosystem is plagued by high costs, complexity, and fragmented tools—making it inaccessible to millions of learners and educators worldwide. Entry-level robotics kits can cost $1,000–$30,000, and mastering frameworks like ROS requires advanced programming skills. As a result, 65% of instructors feel unprepared to teach robotics, while students spend 40% of their time on system setup rather than innovation. Globally, over 7 million engineering students graduate each year, yet access to hands-on robotics education remains limited—especially in under-resourced communities across Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia. This gap restricts innovation, deepens digital divides, and impedes the development of critical 21st-century skills like AI, embedded systems, and automation. OORB addresses this gap by radically simplifying robotics education through low-cost, modular hardware and an open-source AI-driven platform that allows students to build, simulate, and deploy robots without advanced coding. We empower institutions and learners with tools that reduce setup time by 60%, increase learning retention by 26%, and lower costs by up to 5x. By making robotics education affordable, intuitive, and scalable, OORB unlocks global talent and enables equitable participation in the future of work and innovation.
What is your solution?
OORB (Open Organic Robotics) is an open-source, AI-powered platform designed to make robotics education accessible, affordable, and scalable for learners and educators of all levels. Our solution combines hardware kits with an intuitive software platform to enable students to design, build, simulate, and deploy robots—without needing deep technical expertise. At its core, OORB Studio is a no-code/low-code cloud platform powered by advanced AI agents that help users generate code, configure robots, and deploy systems using natural language prompts. Learners can simply type what they want the robot to do, and OORB handles the rest—automating code, simulation, and deployment in real-time. We offer two modular hardware kits: the Robodog, a 3D-printable educational robot, and the RALL-P, a rugged all-terrain platform for advanced learning and research. Both are bundled with pre-integrated software and can be controlled via OORB Studio or our AI-enhanced command line interface. With built-in tools for 3D design, simulation, and multi-language coding, OORB makes robotics learning hands-on and collaborative—cutting development time by up to 60% and boosting retention. It’s already used by 120+ learners across Tunisia and Switzerland. OORB Studio Demo: https://youtu.be/UqAGGBd5Jlo
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
OORB serves underserved students, educators, and early-career researchers in regions where access to robotics education is limited due to high costs, complexity, and lack of localized infrastructure. Our primary beneficiaries include learners in Tunisia, North Africa, and other emerging regions—where 65% of instructors report feeling unprepared to teach robotics, and students lack affordable, hands-on tools to build real-world skills. We also serve educational institutions struggling with outdated or fragmented tools, and SMEs that require adaptable, low-cost robotics platforms for prototyping and learning. OORB empowers these groups through modular, affordable hardware kits and a cloud-based platform that simplifies the robotics learning process. Our no-code interface and AI agents allow users to build and deploy real robots using natural language, eliminating the steep learning curve of traditional systems. This dramatically reduces costs (up to 5x cheaper than alternatives), improves learning retention (by 26% in pilots), and accelerates innovation (42% faster prototyping in labs). By turning robotics into an accessible, scalable experience, OORB equips marginalized learners with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly advancing tech economy. OORB isn’t just a tool—it’s a bridge to opportunity.
