The Service Coverage Index (SCI) tracks 14 indicators across reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases, and service capacity and access, thus reflecting both the availability and actual use of services. Many of these indicators have not improved recently, indicating that service availability is not the only inhibiting factor to service coverage. Rather many people sit on the edges of the health system, not knowing what to do or where to go, encounter motivational or cultural barriers, or are discouraged by fragmented systems that are costly and inefficient. For instance, in India, only 41% of pregnant women receive complete antenatal care, and cervical cancer—primarily caused by HPV—is the leading cancer among women. In Kenya, nearly half of pregnancies are unintended, and 60% end in unsafe abortions, contributing to high maternal mortality despite a 60% contraceptive prevalence rate. In Nigeria, where modern contraceptive use is just 12.9%, 2.5 million unintended pregnancies occur annually, and cervical cancer remains the second most common cancer among women. This leads to more severe illness or complications later in life, reinforcing financial hardship, and overburdening health systems, especially for women and children in underserved communities.
What is your solution?
askNivi is a digital health platform that addresses those challenges, through two complementary platforms - * a WhatsApp chatbot, called askNivi, that uses AI, behavioral science, and analytics to guide users on personalized health journeys. This approach addresses the intent-to-action gap by assessing readiness for health behaviors, providing tailored education, creating confidence, and connecting users to verified local health services. By meeting users on platforms they already use daily, we eliminate technological barriers, while building trust and motivation. * a data platform that uses these interactions and outside data sources to deliver actionable insights for health systems stakeholders. The platform identifies barriers and facilitators to care-seeking behavior, analyzes engagement patterns across different demographic segments, and enables targeted optimization of health service delivery. Together, these components create an ecosystem where individuals receive personalized guidance to navigate complex health decisions, while health systems gain visibility into consumer preferences, enabling more responsive and effective service delivery
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
askNivi serves two constituencies. First, we reach individuals in underserved communities across India, Kenya, and Nigeria. Our primary users are women seeking family planning services, maternal health support, and HPV vaccination information. These users typically encounter information gaps, social stigmas, financial constraints, and fragmented health systems. By providing personalized, private guidance through askNivi, we enable users to make informed health decisions about their health. Our behavior change approach moves users from awareness to action, connecting them directly to verified local services and reducing the financial and time burdens of navigating complex health systems alone. Second, we serve health systems stakeholders (pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, NGOs, and governments) who need a one-stop solution for insights and behavior change. Our data platform transforms millions of health conversations into actionable insights that reveal consumer preferences, barriers to care, engagement patterns, and service gaps. This enables stakeholders to optimize service delivery, improve product distribution, and develop interventions that better meet real-world needs. This enables us to create a continuous improvement cycle between consumers and the health systems that serve them.
