Open Innovation Consultant
Position Overview
MIT Solve, a marketplace for social impact innovation, seeks an Open Innovation Consultant to support our Global Challenges team. This role will help drive a strategic Custom Challenge focused on reducing emissions in consumer shipping settings, launching March 2026, and may support other programs depending on need. Solve is seeking a consultant with program execution experience in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have familiarity with supply chain sustainability and experience developing promotion and marketing campaigns.

Timeline: Immediate start through May 2026 (10-25 hours/week, depending on challenge phase)
Location: remote within US
Compensation: commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
You will deliver key components of the custom challenge, with guidance from the Challenge Lead and other Solve staff. These include:
Consult with industry experts to help define challenge design and parameters
Create comprehensive challenge collateral including challenge description, technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and impact metrics
Help design and implement microsite within Solve’s web platform that meets client branding guidelines
Design and execute a targeted outreach strategy to reach a critical mass of qualified startups applications globally, including:
Promotional materials meeting client branding guidelines
Email marketing approach leveraging existing Solve network and newly researched applicants and networks
Targeted outreach and support for individual applicants
Screen applications for completion, relevance, and general quality
Help coordinate cross-functional workflows between MIT Solve team, client, and external partners
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience in program management, consulting, and/or digital communications
Demonstrated track record of successfully executing time-sensitive projects with multiple stakeholders
Strong verbal and written communication skills with comfort engaging with technical topics
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with guidance on scope and prioritization
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Beneficial Qualifications - strong candidates will have some of the following:
Familiarity with corporate product integration and sustainability, particularly within supply chains
Experience working with detailed branding guidelines in a digital marketing environment
Experience in graphic design
Track record building and managing relations with key internal/external stakeholders including clients and their staff
Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. Asana)
