This project is about solving the current Coronavirus crisis of the world by breaking the one of the indirect transmission means for the virus in the sink faucet. This is done by smarter sink faucet that turn on and off if there is an object and no object between the faucet tip and the sink bed respectively.
What specific problem are you solving?
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become global issue because the virus is pandemic. The means of the transmission of the virus made our lives impossible to continue in a same way in interaction to each other and to our environment. According to WHO the best way to beat this health crisis is breaking the chain of transmission of the coronavirus. This means avoiding contact to each other directly or indirectly. Most people can handle avoiding direct contact but it is impossible to avoid indirect contact. Meaning indirect contact means touching an object which has been touched by someone else. One of the main indirect contacts created from public or home sink faucet for washing your hand to other uses. Meaning when you use a sink faucet you first open the handle that by turning or pushing and when you are done you close the sink faucet by turning or touching the handle and if there is coronavirus on the handle it does not matter because the last thing you touched is the handle. This will make you think that your hands are clean because you washed but the fact is that the virus might be in your hands after you washed.
What is your solution?
A smarter sink faucet that turn on and off if there is an object and no object between the faucet tip and the sink bed respectively. Meaning this smarter faucet is equipped with a distance sensor that measures the height between the tip of the faucet and the bed of the sink at all time. When there is an object between the tip of the faucet and bed of the sink whether it is a hand, a dish plate, cup or other material it automatically send signal for the valve to open. When the valve opens water comes out. Then automatically when the object is removed from the point between the tip of the faucet and the bed of the sink the distance sensor send signal to the valve to close the opening. Since we feed the data of the exact height between the tip of the faucet and the bed of the sink to the distance sensor it knows when there is an object and the object is removed in micro seconds. This will help on avoiding one means of transmission of the virus because end users do not have to use the water gate hand valve.
