The Problem

Golden Dreams is attempting to reduce the prevalence of trafficking and forced labor at scale by creating a safe space for migrants and survivors to exchange practical, updated information to help avoid risks in migration and find safe, decent jobs without being cheated or scammed.

The Solution

Can we imagine a world where more and more workers and trafficking survivors with a whole range of lived experiences could safely share their knowledge with others about recognizing and avoiding the traps of brokers, how to look up legitimate recruitment agencies and aid organizations, how to research safe job opportunities and know what’s real vs fake, and how get the kind of services you need in the languages you need?

This is the goal of Golden Dreams, a Yelp-like smartphone app by and for migrants and survivors. Users can exchange updated information on the costs and processes of migrating and worker rights, and also read crowdsourced, anonymized ratings and reviews on employers, recruiters, and service providers by their peers. There is also a Job Marketplace, where responsible employers and recruitment agencies can post jobs, and workers can research the opportunities in their language and apply directly at no cost.

Stats

From 2021-2025, 489,726 worker-reported labor violations were identified and remediated through Golden Dreams' actions.
