Basic Information
Project Summary
The Critical Healthcare Information Integration Network (CHIIN) is a free-for-use SMS messaging system that provides validated medical information on context-relevant diseases to community health workers practicing in rural settings. Community health workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in sustaining health systems in Africa. Many CHWs lack access to reliable medical reference information due to limited internet access and difficulties circulating up-to-date hard copies, leading to reduced quality of care and lost lives. CHIIN relies on SMS messaging to reach offline CHWs and empower them with insights needed to guide care decisions and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
