What specific problem are you solving?
In Africa, accessing basic healthcare is still a daily challenge for millions. The continent bears the world’s highest disease burden, yet in Sub-Saharan Africa, there’s only one doctor for every 10,000 people. Nearly 634 million people — about 67% of the population — live in rural areas, far from clinics, and many can’t afford the cost or time to travel. Even urban hospitals are often overstretched and under-resourced.
While digital health is growing, it often leaves out the very people who need it most. Over 65% of Africans lack smartphones or reliable internet, making most digital health tools out of reach. Just 2% have health insurance, so a single illness can push a family into poverty. Meanwhile, non-communicable diseases now account for over 40% of deaths across the continent.
Zuri Health is bridging these gaps. We deliver healthcare through mobile clinics, SMS, and AI-driven tools — meeting people where they are, whether they have a smartphone or a basic phone. From doctor consultations and lab bookings to health tips and home visits, we make affordable, quality care accessible to anyone, anywhere.
What is your solution?
At Zuri Health, we’re building a future where quality healthcare is within reach for everyone, regardless of location, income, or device.
Our multi-channel approach includes a mobile app, website, WhatsApp bot, and SMS service, allowing users to consult doctors, purchase medication, book lab tests, or request home visits — all from their phones. Whether someone is in a city or a remote village, they can access affordable, reliable care without stepping into a hospital.
We leverage AI tools to power early diagnosis and triage. Our AI-driven symptom checkers and screening tools, including for mental health, STIs, and chronic conditions, provide fast, personalized guidance to help users make informed decision.
What sets us apart is our commitment to inclusion. While most digital tools require smartphones and internet, our SMS-based service ensures that the 65% of people with basic phones are not left behind.
Beyond digital, we operate mobile clinics and free medical camps, reaching underserved communities directly. Our “Care Now, Pay Later” program ensures that finances don’t delay treatment.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We serve the underserved populations across Africa, including low-income earners, rural communities, women, and those with chronic conditions. These individuals face significant barriers to healthcare, such as geographic isolation, financial constraints, lack of digital access, and limited healthcare infrastructure. Over 65% of people in Africa don’t have access to smartphones or reliable internet, making it difficult for them to access essential health services.
Our solution bridges these gaps by providing healthcare through multiple channels: mobile apps, SMS, WhatsApp, and a website. Whether users have a smartphone or just a basic phone, they can consult with doctors, get prescriptions, book lab tests, and even receive home visits. We also leverage AI-powered tools for early diagnosis and triage, helping users manage conditions like mental health, STIs, and chronic illnesses.
Our programs like “Care Now, Pay Later” further address financial challenges by allowing users to pay for services in installments. By integrating technology with healthcare, we ensure that millions of underserved individuals can access timely, affordable, and quality care, ultimately improving their health and well-being.
