The centralization of economic activities predominantly in urban areas like Metro Manila leaves rural communities underdeveloped and isolated. Consequently, students and young professionals from these regions frequently face reduced employment prospects due to biases favoring urban-based applicants with "prestigious" educational backgrounds.
Globally, similar rural-urban divides perpetuate poverty, limit economic growth, and maintain systemic inequalities. In the Philippines alone, millions of rural youth face underemployment or unemployment, directly impeding national economic prosperity. OJT Connect is an innovative digital platform and educational initiative designed to bridge the gap between rural Filipino youth and meaningful employment opportunities. Our solution works through a structured framework known as the 4E’s: ENGAGE, EQUIP, ESTABLISH, and EMPOWER. First, we engage students and aspiring professionals through targeted school visits and partnerships with educational institutions. We then equip participants with essential job skills through practical workshops. Our online platform, OJT Connect, enables users to establish direct connections with potential employers, facilitating internships and on-the-job training opportunities.
