What specific problem are you solving?
Approximately 1 in 5 students have a learning difference—yet most educational systems aren’t built to support the needs of dyslexic and neurodivergent learners. The go-to fix has been tutoring. But traditional tutoring is costly, inconsistent, and often ineffective: in the U.S. alone, parents spend $19 billion annually on private tutoring, yet only 4% report it as effective. The U.S. government has traditionally added another $28.06 billion per year in academic intervention spending. This lack of impact hits dyslexic and neurodivergent students hardest. They face lifelong consequences: they are 6× more likely to drop out, 84% experience high anxiety, and they earn up to 20% less over their lifetime. At the root of the problem is a lack of access, limited time during sessions, and—most critically—a lack of data and insight to identify and address specific challenges. Tutors don’t have the tools to create individualized experiences, track progress, or offer consistent support between sessions. As a result, struggling students fall further behind. Digital “tutor” chatbots have emerged as the next big thing—but studies show 88% of kids ignore them. Even more striking: the less confident a student is, the more likely they are to tune the bots out.
What is your solution?
Lexsee is an AI-powered tutoring platform designed to help struggling students—especially those with dyslexia—build reading fluency and confidence faster. Instead of replacing tutors, Lexsee works alongside them. At its core is a “digital twin” of each student: a dynamic learning profile that captures their strengths, challenges, and progress over time. Tutors use Lexsee to plan personalized sessions, generate custom assignments, and write session notes quickly. These assignments can be tailored by reading level, topic, vocabulary, or phonics patterns. Students can complete them in-session, over Zoom, or independently between sessions. Lexsee also supports students directly with a built-in virtual tutor that’s always available. Because it’s connected to the tutor’s insights and the student’s learning history, it's relevant and pedagogically rooted—it's not a generic chatbot. This continuous support means students can practice more often and get help exactly when they need it. Behind the scenes, Lexsee uses a combination of AI models for natural language processing, speech analysis, and personalization. Tutors get data-rich insights, such as words correct per minute (WCPM) and pronunciation patterns, while students receive engaging, targeted content that actually fits them. Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Lexsee serves struggling readers—especially dyslexic, neurodivergent, and under-supported students in middle and high school—alongside the tutors, teachers, and specialists who work with them. These learners often face significant barriers in traditional education systems, where one-size-fits-all instruction fails to meet their needs. They are more likely to fall behind, experience anxiety, and disengage from learning entirely. Tutors are often their lifeline—but tutoring is expensive, hard to scale, and inconsistent. Tutors themselves are overburdened, spending unpaid hours on session planning, tracking student growth, and reporting to families—all without the tools to do it efficiently. Lexsee changes this by giving tutors an AI-powered dashboard that automates session planning, surfaces detailed student insights, and creates personalized assignments in seconds. At the same time, students benefit from a virtual tutor that’s always available and tailored to their unique learning profile. By improving how tutors work and extending personalized support beyond the session, Lexsee helps students build confidence, fluency, and momentum. The result is not just better reading scores—but reduced frustration, stronger communication with families, and renewed belief that success is possible.
