What specific problem are you solving?
Schools nationwide struggle to proactively support the 1 in 5 students with learning and thinking differences. Critical needs often go unmet because current systems typically rely on specialists reviewing lagging data weeks or months after challenges arise. With national average student-to-school psychologist ratios exceeding 1,100:1 (more than double the recommendation) and counselor ratios similarly strained, these specialists are bottlenecked. Support becomes reactive, reaching only a fraction of students, often after needs escalate. Teachers, despite being on the front lines, lack the capacity and tools to consistently identify subtle needs or access timely data for proactive intervention. This systemic and archaic bottleneck disproportionately impacts underserved students and fails to empower the entire school community to provide the timely, equitable support every student deserves.
What is your solution?
Emote’s Care Copilot scales how schools use data for student support, increasing reach, equity, and impact. Co-built with educators and informed by years of unique data from our core Emote platform, this AI-powered tool combines interventionist expertise with advanced data analysis. It analyzes trends across varied data (qualitative notes, observations, check-ins) to identify root causes and correlations (e.g., behavior patterns linked to peer issues or food insecurity) – insights easily missed manually. This saves significant time, allowing staff to focus on action. Currently piloted, Care Copilot helps interventionists generate reports and identify trends. Our next phase expands these AI capabilities to classroom teachers, providing real-time, data-informed insights and strategies. Care Copilot bridges data to action, leveraging technology so educators can deliver timely, equitable, context-specific care.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We primarily serve PK-12 students, particularly those with diagnosed or undiagnosed learning differences often missed by reactive systems relying on lagging data. We directly equip educators (interventionists, teachers, support staff) and partner schools/districts to better support these students. Currently, students face delays receiving appropriate support, while educators are overburdened by manual data analysis. Care Copilot impacts students by enabling earlier identification and timely, individualized, proactive support, fostering a feeling of being seen. It empowers all educators with actionable insights derived from AI analysis, reducing data workload (freeing specialists) and equipping teachers to respond effectively. Our pilots across 10 schools (~2900 students, ~24 educators) show a 4x increase in students supported and 40% faster support delivery, fostering more equitable, community-based care systems.
