What specific problem are you solving?
Cboard addresses the problem of communication barriers for children and adults with speech and language impairments, particularly those with disabilities such as autism or cerebral palsy. Children with such conditions may struggle to learn how to express themselves verbally, which can lead to social isolation, limited educational opportunities, and emotional frustration. Cboard is an open-source Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) application that enables non-verbal or speech-impaired users to communicate through symbols and text-to-speech functionality. It is designed to be accessible on various devices (tablets, computers, smartphones) and supports over45 languages. We aim to also address the lack of assistive technology resources in underrepresented languages.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Cboard's target population is anyone with a speech and language impairment, with a need to use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to facilitate communication. Our primary target within this population is people in countries with limited options to assistive technology in their local language. Cboard has been the first AAC solution in Tetum, the local language in Timor Leste. The pilot report can be found here: https://www.cboard.io/en/blog/2024-01-20-timot-leste-report/
