What specific problem are you solving?
CerviScreen addresses one of the most pressing public health challenges in low-resource and primary healthcare settings: the alarmingly low coverage and late diagnosis of cervical cancer, despite the disease being preventable and curable when detected early. India alone accounts for over 15% of global cervical cancer deaths, largely due to limited access to screening services at the primary healthcare level.
While National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD) recommend Visual Inspection (VI) and Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) every five years for women aged 30–65, the actual implementation remains weak in public as well as in private sector. This is primarily due to a shortage of trained professionals, lack of standardization, poor referral mechanisms, and fragmented patient records. Screening is often opportunistic, untracked, and disconnected from follow-up care and vaccination.
What is your solution?
CerviScreen is an AI-enabled, smartphone-based mobile application that empowers frontline health workers—ASHAs, ANMs, and nurses—to perform VI/VIA/VILI screenings with confidence and clinical support. The tool provides real time AI analysis, guides referrals, stores encrypted data, and integrates with patient records for longitudinal tracking. It includes vaccination and follow-up management, ensuring compliance with Government of India and WHO guidelines.
By digitalizing and decentralizing the screening process, CerviScreen transforms cervical cancer prevention—bringing timely, accurate, and equitable screening directly to the community and aligning with the WHO’s global elimination strategy and SDG 3 goals.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
CerviScreen directly serves women aged 30–65 years in low-resource and rural communities, where access to timely cervical cancer screening is limited or nonexistent. These women are often underserved due to systemic gaps in public health infrastructure, a shortage of trained healthcare professionals, low awareness, and reliance on opportunistic or symptomatic diagnosis. As a result, many cases are detected at advanced stages, leading to unnecessary morbidity and mortality.
The solution also supports frontline health workers—such as ASHAs, ANMs, and nurses—by equipping them with a powerful, AI-enabled mobile tool to screen, assess, and refer women using the VI/VIA/VILI method. Traditionally, these workers lack access to diagnostic support or standardized workflows, reducing their ability to effectively implement national screening programs.
CerviScreen bridges this gap by digitizing the screening process, offering real-time AI guidance, capturing and encrypting patient data, and integrating with existing health systems. It simplifies referrals, ensures follow-up, and enables longitudinal tracking and vaccination record management.
By empowering primary healthcare providers and reaching women where they live, CerviScreen not only increases early detection and timely treatment but also supports health equity, reduces preventable deaths, and advances global goals to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health threat.
