What specific problem are you solving?
In Latin America, millions of citizens face daily service abuses—unjust bank charges, spam calls, denied insurance claims—yet less than 1% of them file formal complaints. The process is bureaucratic, intimidating, and digitally inaccessible for many. This lack of civic participation erodes trust, perpetuates inequality, and allows harmful corporate behavior to go unchecked. Our solution addresses the deep gap in secure, inclusive digital participation. Over 400 million people in Latin America use WhatsApp, but lack user-friendly tools to demand accountability. In Ecuador alone, 67% of digital users report unresolved service issues, yet only 12% take action (CAF, 2023). This reflects a larger regional problem where civic voice is either silenced or ignored. By focusing on accessibility, Reclamante leverages behavioral nudging, AI, and mobile messaging to activate citizen power from the bottom up. We remove the friction of “how” to complain and transform it into a dignified, guided process available to all. Ultimately, we’re solving for the invisibility of underserved voices in digital civic space—a core barrier to inclusive prosperity and institutional trust.
What is your solution?
Reclamante is an AI-powered civic assistant that enables citizens to generate, track, and manage service complaints—directly through WhatsApp. Using conversational AI and behavioral nudging, Reclamante guides users step-by-step to file complaints related to bank charges, spam calls, and insurance issues. The system generates a personalized, legally structured document, helps the user send it, and then tracks its progress. Through our platform, users also access a dashboard where they can monitor cases, manage data permissions, and learn about their consumer rights. The core technologies behind Reclamante include generative AI for document creation, a WhatsApp-based user interface for accessibility, and a gamified experience powered by “Reclamacoins” to encourage civic participation. Our backend also hosts a complaint marketplace, allowing users to sell their claims for early payment or connect with legal professionals for escalated cases. We use cloud infrastructure and scalable APIs to integrate legal frameworks and data flows across different jurisdictions in Latin America. Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Reclamante directly serves low- and middle-income citizens across Latin America who face service abuse or neglect but lack the tools, knowledge, or confidence to demand accountability. These individuals are often mobile-first, digitally connected through WhatsApp, yet excluded from formal complaint systems due to bureaucracy, legal complexity, or distrust in institutions. Many of our users live on less than $500 per month and face regular challenges with banks, telecom providers, or insurance companies. Most have never filed a formal complaint, despite experiencing repeated abuses. Reclamante offers them a guided, dignified, and empowering path to take action—without needing legal knowledge, digital literacy, or time-consuming processes. It transforms civic participation from a burden into a habit by making it easy, fast, and emotionally rewarding. The solution will improve their lives in three key ways: Recovering value (money or service) through successful claims. Gaining a sense of control and dignity through visible participation. Joining a collective civic network that holds institutions accountable. Ultimately, Reclamante gives underserved individuals a voice—and turns that voice into tangible impact at both personal and systemic levels.
