What specific problem are you solving?
Writing is one of the most essential yet underserved skills in K–12 education. Nationwide, only 27% of students in grades 8 and 12 are proficient in writing (NAEP, 2011—the most recent national assessment). Teachers cite time constraints, large class sizes, and lack of effective feedback tools as key obstacles to improving writing instruction. In many districts, students write as few as 3 to 5 times per school year, and often receive little actionable feedback.
Globally, the problem is equally acute: over 600 million children worldwide are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in literacy and writing (UNESCO). Yet writing remains central to college readiness, career success, and civic engagement.
WisdomEDU addresses this gap by using AI to transform writing instruction from episodic to daily practice, providing real-time feedback aligned to teacher-created rubrics. We are solving the problem of scale and personalization—giving every student the opportunity to improve their writing with immediate, high-quality feedback, and enabling teachers to focus on instruction rather than manual grading.
Our solution directly tackles the inefficiencies in the feedback loop, empowering teachers and accelerating student growth in a foundational 21st-century skill.
What is your solution?
WisdomEDU is an AI-powered writing platform that helps students become stronger, more confident writers—while saving teachers time. Our core product, Writiles, uses generative AI to instantly score and provide feedback on student writing based on educator-created rubrics. Unlike tools that assess writing in isolation, WisdomEDU creates a dynamic loop between student, teacher, and AI—making writing a daily practice rather than a once-a-quarter assignment.
Here’s how it works: students respond to prompts in any subject area—ELA, social studies, science—and receive immediate, actionable feedback from the platform. Teachers customize rubrics and oversee the AI’s feedback to maintain alignment with their instructional goals. As students revise and improve, teachers can review progress, confer with students, and assign final grades—all in one place.
We use OpenAI’s large language models (ChatGPT-4) integrated with proprietary scoring engines like the Writile Index Score, which tracks writing growth and flags potential AI misuse through lexical fingerprinting. Our system is FERPA-compliant, secure, and adaptable to any classroom.
WisdomEDU brings the power of personalized feedback to every student, every day—making writing instruction scalable, equitable, and transformational for teachers and learners alike.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
WisdomEDU serves K–12 students and educators, with a mission to close writing gaps in underserved and under-resourced schools. These include low-income, rural, and urban districts where students often receive limited writing instruction due to time constraints, large class sizes, and lack of support tools. Many students write infrequently and rarely receive personalized feedback that fosters growth.
Our AI-powered platform, featuring Writiles, transforms this reality by making writing a daily habit. Students engage in short, scaffolded writing tasks and receive instant, rubric-aligned feedback that helps them revise and improve. Over time, our proprietary Writile Index Score tracks each student’s writing growth—offering a clear, measurable view of progress, even in just a few weeks.
For teachers, the platform eliminates hours of manual grading while providing powerful insights into student trends and needs. This frees educators to focus on personalized instruction and coaching, instead of paperwork.
WisdomEDU builds writing confidence and competence for every learner, especially those historically left behind. By turning feedback into fuel for growth, we help students see themselves as capable writers—and give teachers the tools to help every student thrive.
