What specific problem are you solving?
Mongolia’s current education system does not adequately prepare children and youth with the practical skills, creative thinking, and socio-emotional competencies needed for the 21st century. While students acquire theoretical knowledge, many lack essential skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and adaptability. This gap has contributed to Mongolia’s youth unemployment rate of 17%, well above the global average of 13% (ILO, 2023).
The issue is worsened by inequities between urban and rural schools, and between public and private institutions. Rural and public school students face limited access to trained teachers, extracurricular programs, and digital tools. In contrast, urban and private school students benefit from better infrastructure and exposure to diverse learning experiences. A 2022 UNICEF study found that rural students score 20–30% lower on national exams, and only 23% of rural schools have sufficient digital access—compared to 70% in urban areas.
This growing skills and opportunity gap threatens Mongolia’s ability to develop a future-ready workforce and reduces pathways to social mobility, particularly in marginalized communities. Today, over 600,000 students are enrolled in public and rural schools in Mongolia, with more than 300,000 aged 10–16—the group most impacted by this gap and the primary beneficiaries of our solution.
What is your solution?
Our solution is a comprehensive enterprise education package designed to equip students, teachers, and parents with practical tools to develop essential 21st-century skills, particularly in underserved communities. It includes interactive, age-appropriate resources such as learner and facilitator guidebooks, game-based activities, self-assessment tools, and digital lessons focused on building an enterprise mindset through skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.
For middle and high school students, we offer structured modules through printed booklets and e-learning courses hosted on Melearn, a local digital platform. For younger children, we work with long-term partner Eric Clock and his Little Go Getters to provide engaging story-based books—printed and digital—that teach enterprise values through relatable characters.
To expand reach and impact, we have partnered with ONOW, a digital solutions provider, to develop a unified platform for delivering our programs. This will improve student engagement, data collection, and progress tracking throughout our 4–10 week learning cycles.
We are also digitizing content for younger learners to enhance interactivity, promote digital literacy, and bring enterprise learning into both classrooms and homes.
Our goal is to make enterprise learning more practical, inclusive, and accessible—especially for youth aged 10–16.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution primarily serves school-aged children and youth in Mongolia, especially those aged 10–16 in public and rural schools, who are currently underserved by the education system. These students often lack access to engaging, skill-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and adaptability—skills essential for navigating the 21st-century world. Due to systemic inequities, they also face limited exposure to extracurricular activities, qualified facilitators, and digital tools that can support holistic learning.
We also engage teachers and parents, equipping them with practical tools to better understand, support, and guide their children’s development through enterprise learning.
Our solution addresses this gap through a comprehensive, interactive enterprise education package that combines printed and digital tools, story-based learning, self-assessments, and game-based activities. These resources help students reflect on their behaviors, develop soft skills, and explore real-world challenges—both in and outside the classroom.
By making enterprise learning practical, inclusive, and accessible, we aim to improve student confidence, engagement, and readiness for future employment and civic life. Ultimately, our solution helps foster a generation of enterprising, empowered youth who are better prepared to shape their communities and futures.
