What specific problem are you solving?
Dawati addresses severe inequities in education access and quality affecting marginalized students in rural, conflict-affected, and refugee-hosting areas of Kenya. Over 59% of Kenyan secondary schools face chronic teacher shortages, exacerbated in conflict zones where violence has driven away non-local teachers, depriving tens of thousands of students of qualified instruction. Nationally, less than 15% of refugee children transition to secondary education, and pastoralist communities often lack consistent schooling entirely. For instance, 82% of adults in NorthEastern Kenya never attended school, compared to just 0.1% in Central Kenya, because of Al-Shabaab’s attacks on schools and teachers, government neglect, and historical colonial marginalization of non-agricultural regions. These disparities entrench cycles of poverty, gender inequity, and limit career opportunities. Globally, over 250 million children remain out of school, many due to conflict and insecurity, reflecting a pervasive crisis that Dawati directly addresses through technology-enabled learning solutions.
