What specific problem are you solving?
While local NGOs and grassroots leaders are often best positioned to drive impact in their communities, they are rarely equipped with the fundraising skills, resources, or networks to sustain their work. Globally, over 70% of grassroots organizations lack stable funding, especially in regions affected by displacement, poverty, or crisis. Many social impact leaders — particularly refugees, youth, and women — have no access to quality fundraising training, limiting their ability to grow or scale solutions that their communities urgently need.
Traditional training programs are expensive, exclusive, and often irrelevant to local realities. Content is frequently designed for well-resourced professionals in the Global North, leaving behind those already doing the work in the Global South.
Without access to culturally relevant, practical skill-building programs, these leaders are left underfunded, isolated, and burned out — despite their proven potential.
What is your solution?
The Bridging Gaps Fundraising Incubator is a 5-month, fully remote, community-powered certificate program designed to equip social impact professionals with practical, localized fundraising skills.
The incubator is co-designed and co-led with grassroots leaders and accredited by the University for Peace, a UN-established institution. Participants receive training in fundraising strategy, grant writing, storytelling, and digital campaigning — paired with mentorship, peer exchange, and real-life fundraising practice.
Our “learning by doing” approach means participants don’t just study fundraising — they launch real campaigns during the program, gaining hands-on experience, visibility, and funding for their initiatives.
We use accessible digital tools (Zoom, Notion, Canva, WhatsApp) to ensure the program reaches leaders even in low-connectivity areas. Participants graduate with a dual certificate from Bridging Gaps and UPEACE, increasing their credibility with donors and partners.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We serve grassroots changemakers — especially those who are refugees, youth, women, or working in low-income and crisis-affected regions. These individuals often lead local initiatives with passion and innovation but lack formal training in fundraising, making it difficult to sustain or scale their impact.
Our participants come from communities historically excluded from professional development opportunities — not because of a lack of talent, but because of systemic barriers like cost, language, and access. They often juggle community leadership with caregiving, trauma recovery, or limited internet access.
The Fundraising Incubator breaks those barriers by offering an inclusive, remote, and accessible learning experience. It meets people where they are — both geographically and personally.
By the end of the program, participants gain:
-Practical fundraising skills and real-life campaign experience
-A dual certificate from Bridging Gaps + University for Peace
-Increased confidence and visibility
-A global peer support network
