What specific problem are you solving?
Millions of underserved individuals—especially youth, seniors, immigrants, and low-income families—face systemic barriers to economic opportunity due to a lack of access to digital tools, financial education, and workforce pathways. In Montgomery County, Maryland alone, over 30% of immigrant households lack broadband access, and many seniors report difficulty navigating digital health and banking systems. Nationally, 43 million adults are financially illiterate, and youth from underserved communities are entering the workforce without foundational tech or money management skills.
Seniors often struggle with online services, making it harder to manage health appointments, insurance, or benefits. Youth face underemployment due to skill gaps and limited exposure to tech-enabled careers. These digital and financial divides not only limit individual potential but also contribute to intergenerational cycles of poverty.
Our solution addresses this intersection—digital equity, financial empowerment, and health education—to help communities build long-term resilience. We focus on culturally relevant, multilingual, and tech-enabled approaches to meet people where they are and guide them toward lasting economic stability.
What is your solution?
EmpowerED by ADG is a tech-enabled community program that combines digital literacy, financial education, and workforce readiness to empower underserved youth and seniors. It provides accessible training and coaching through in-person workshops, multilingual mobile apps, and AI-assisted tools tailored for individuals with limited digital skills.
The program includes:
Digital Literacy Modules to help participants navigate online banking, telehealth, and job portals
Financial Education Tools covering budgeting, credit, retirement, and tax filing, supported by virtual and in-person coaches
Workforce Readiness support including resume building, gig and job matching, and virtual interview preparation
A Community Dashboard that tracks participation and identifies emerging needs for outreach
Our platform uses offline-first mobile technology, AI-powered financial coaching, and cloud-based dashboards to ensure accessibility and data-driven service delivery.
Currently active in Maryland, EmpowerED is designed to scale nationwide, with a focus on immigrant and low-income communities. Our approach is human-centered, tech-supported, and grounded in cultural relevance.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
EmpowerED by ADG serves underserved populations in Montgomery County, Maryland—including immigrants, youth, seniors, and low-income families—who face systemic barriers to digital access, financial literacy, and economic mobility.
In Maryland, approximately 10.8% of immigrants lack access to a computer or tablet, and 19.4% lack broadband internet, hindering their ability to access essential services and opportunities. Nationally, nearly 22 million older adults lack broadband access at home, exacerbating the digital divide among seniors.

Financial literacy is another significant challenge; only about 50% of U.S. adults are financially literate, a figure that has remained stagnant over recent years. This lack of financial knowledge contributes to economic instability and limits individuals' ability to make informed decisions.
By providing culturally relevant, multilingual education and tech-enabled tools, EmpowerED aims to bridge these gaps. The program enhances digital confidence, financial knowledge, and job readiness, enabling participants to access services, secure better employment, manage finances effectively, and achieve greater independence and stability.
Over time, EmpowerED fosters increased economic resilience, stronger communities, and more equitable participation in the digital economy.
