What specific problem are you solving?
We’re EatCloud, and we’re here because we can’t accept that two dramatic problems are still coexisting: Food waste and hunger. A third of all the food produced in the world is thrown away, while 1 in 9 people go to bed hungry. This costs the food industry 2.6 trillion dollars a year, and causes 8% of greenhouse gases. With the food wasted in Latam we could feed 300 million people yearly.
What is your solution?
We’re saving the industry the logistic cost of surpluses and also generating tax benefits; it allows us to develop a winning business model We are monetizing our automation platform, charging the food industry a monthly fee for each point of sale, distribution center, and production plant connected to EatCloud. Also monetizing the analytical data of the operation segmented by interests (data focused on efficiency, sustainability, and logistics costs), charging a monthly subscription fee for each company. We have turned the surplus food management process into a SaaS and data analytics global business opportunity.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Primarily, we aim to benefit people who are in situations of critical and severe food insecurity. We seek to ensure that these individuals have access to nutritious food that is typically destroyed or discarded in landfills. By redistributing unsold food from supermarkets, restaurants, and food producers, we can provide meals to those in need. We facilitate the process for companies to obtain the necessary certification through our platform, enabling them to access tax benefits for their donations. This solution will not only address immediate hunger but also contribute to reducing food waste and promoting a more sustainable food system.
