What specific problem are you solving?
We are solving the problem of severe menstrual pain and delayed diagnosis of reproductive health conditions, which affects millions of women, especially in underserved communities. In East Africa, where we work, conditions like endometriosis and fibroids are often misdiagnosed or completely undiagnosed for years, leading to chronic pain, infertility, and loss of productivity. Globally, over 190 million women suffer from endometriosis alone, and in Africa, diagnosis can take up to 10 years due to limited access to specialists, stigma, and a lack of awareness.
In our region, up to 80% of women report period pain, and many rely on over-the-counter painkillers, which are not only ineffective for some but also cause harmful side effects with long term use. Women in rural and low income areas are hit hardest, with little to no access to gynecological care.
We address this by providing a drug free pain relief device that connects to a mobile app, using AI to track pain patterns and flag risks of conditions like secondary dysmenorrhea. Our solution helps women get diagnosed earlier and access the care they need, empowering them with better health, productivity, and quality of life.
What is your solution?
Our solution is the Jolly Device—a small, wearable gadget that provides drug-free relief for menstrual pain and helps detect deeper health issues. It uses safe TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) technology to send gentle pulses to the body, blocking pain naturally. Women wear it on their abdomen during their period, and it offers fast, reusable, and side-effect-free relief.
What makes it even more powerful is that it connects to a mobile app. The app uses AI to track and analyze the user's pain over time. If the pain patterns seem unusual—like signs of endometriosis or fibroids the app flags it and recommends a virtual consultation with a gynecologist on our telemedicine platform https://virtual.xantonn.com/.
The solution is simple, accessible, and tailored for women, especially in low-resource areas. It gives users real-time insights into their menstrual health, saves them from unnecessary medication, and helps catch serious conditions early. Our technology bridges the gap between pain relief and diagnosis—giving women control over their health in a way that’s never been done before.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves women and girls of reproductive age, especially those living in low and middle income communities across Africa, where access to quality menstrual and reproductive healthcare is limited. Many of these women suffer silently from severe period pain and conditions like endometriosis and fibroids, often without a diagnosis. They rely heavily on painkillers that can cause harmful side effects and rarely address the root cause of the pain.
In rural and underserved areas, women face long travel distances, high healthcare costs, and a shortage of gynecologists, making it nearly impossible to get proper care. Cultural stigma around menstruation also keeps many from seeking help at all.
Our solution provides safe, reusable pain relief and connects users to AI-powered insights and virtual consultations, helping them manage their pain, understand their health better, and access timely medical support all through a simple wearable device and mobile app.
By relieving pain and facilitating early diagnosis, we help women feel better, miss fewer days at school or work, and take control of their reproductive health. It’s not just about pain relief it’s about dignity, opportunity, and better health outcomes.
