What specific problem are you solving?
Agripoa is solving the problem of inefficiency and exclusion in the agricultural value chain for smallholder farmers in Tanzania. These farmers face several interconnected challenges: Lack of access to reliable markets – Farmers often sell to middlemen at low prices due to limited market visibility and bargaining power. Limited access to finance and insurance – Without proper records or risk mitigation tools, farmers struggle to access credit and are vulnerable to climate-related shocks. Poor access to agronomic information and inputs – Many farmers still rely on traditional methods, leading to low productivity. Fragmentation and poor data visibility – Cooperatives and AMCOS lack digital tools to effectively manage member records, track production, and coordinate aggregation.
What is your solution?
Agripoa is a digital platform that empowers smallholder farmers by connecting them to markets, finance, and insurance through cooperatives, AMCOS, and farm groups. Our solution is built around four core pillars: 1. Farmer and Group Digitisation We register farmers and create digital profiles that capture: Farm size, crops grown, production data Location, planting/harvest timelines Group affiliation (AMCOS, cooperatives, etc.) This data becomes the foundation for linking them to services. 2. Market Linkages We aggregate supply data from farm groups and match it with buyer demand (e.g. traders, processors, exporters). Buyers get access to consistent, quality supply Farmers earn better prices by bypassing middlemen 3. Access to Insurance and Finance Through partnerships, we enable: Crop insurance: to protect against droughts, pests, and other risks Input financing & loans: based on group records and production history Farmers become "visible" and creditworthy thanks to our data. 4. Smart Extension Support We push timely updates and agronomic tips to farmers based on crop calendars, local weather, and input needs via cooperatives and digital tools.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
