What specific problem are you solving?
Globally, over 129 million children live with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), yet fewer than 20% in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) ever receive a diagnosis or support (Bitta et al., 2017). ADHD is one of the most prevalent—but most overlooked—neurodevelopmental conditions affecting children’s health, academic outcomes, and long-term wellbeing. In countries like Colombia, pervasive underdiagnosis stems from a lack of awareness, stigma, and insufficient integration of mental health within school and primary care systems (Pineda et al., 2014). Educators, often the first line of observation, lack culturally relevant tools or training to identify ADHD symptoms accurately. Children are mischaracterized as misbehaving rather than as needing support—resulting in academic failure, increased anxiety, and social exclusion (Harpin et al., 2016). This gap in early detection and intervention contributes to long-term disparities in educational and health outcomes. Cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health services are often inaccessible, especially in underserved communities. Cogniphant addresses this issue by integrating AI-powered ADHD screening and inclusive educator training directly into school systems, bridging education and health. By equipping teachers and families with culturally adapted, accessible tools, Cogniphant enables earlier identification, empowers inclusive support, and promotes long-term mental wellbeing—contributing to stronger health systems and equity in child development.
What is your solution?
Cogniphant is a digital platform that uses artificial intelligence to screen for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in schools and provide tailored support for students, educators, and families. Designed for easy integration into school routines, it’s especially effective in low-resource communities across Latin America and other emerging regions. Here’s how it works: - Quick, science-based screening: Teachers complete an intuitive digital assessment grounded in validated behavioral and cognitive indicators—no specialists required. - AI-powered insights: Our algorithms analyze the data and generate a personalized report for each flagged student, highlighting their strengths and areas needing support. - Immediate, personalized strategies: Each report includes actionable recommendations for teachers and caregivers, adapted to the student’s context and designed for both classroom and home environments. - Training and resources: Educators receive training in Cogniphant’s inclusive ADHD methodology. We also provide practical materials for parents and older students to reinforce strategies and build understanding. - Progress tracking: For students flagged by the screening, our platform enables ongoing monitoring to refine support strategies and measure engagement and improvement over time. Cogniphant empowers schools to identify neurodivergent learners early, respond inclusively, and foster better educational, emotional, and life outcomes for every child.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our AI-powered digital health platform helps schools identify and support children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—one of the most common but underdiagnosed neurodevelopmental conditions worldwide. Our solution empowers schools to conduct early screening and provide targeted support without relying on scarce clinical resources. Parents and teachers complete short, validated behavioral questionnaires, while children engage with interactive tasks that measure executive functions such as attention, cognitive flexibility, impulse control, and planning. The process is simple, engaging, and takes less than 30 minutes. Our machine learning model analyzes these inputs to identify students at risk and generates personalized profiles. Each report includes a breakdown of strengths and challenges, along with practical recommendations for teachers and caregivers that can be implemented at home and in the classroom. Educators receive training in inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming strategies, and families are supported with tools to reinforce positive behavior and emotional regulation. The platform also enables ongoing progress tracking to adapt interventions over time. Cogniphant bridges the gap between education and mental health in underserved regions by offering a scalable, low-cost solution to ADHD identification and support. Already piloted in Colombia and Mexico, Cogniphant is proving how technology can deliver early, equitable mental health access for children everywhere.
