What specific problem are you solving?
3.5 billion People, almost half the world's population, lack access to health services, so this causes 100 million people to be pushed into extreme poverty each year. Over 6 million people die annually in developing countries due to limited access to healthcare, while 93% of Tanzania’s population lacks access to quality medical services. Rural areas, where over 70% of Tanzanians live, face severe shortages of healthcare infrastructure, trained professionals, and diagnostic facilities. Patients often travel over 50 km to the nearest hospital, leading to delayed diagnoses, increased mortality rates, and high out-of-pocket expenses.
What is your solution?
Agki Medical Laboratory is building a decentralized digital health system for rural Africa by delivering essential lab tests, medications, and free health education directly to underserved communities using solar-powered electric bikes and vans. Our AI-powered platform runs on WhatsApp, works offline, and automates diagnostics, triage, and logistics to ensure uninterrupted access to care—even in areas with no internet. Patients can chat with our AI assistant in their local language to get real-time support, while our mobile teams handle on-site testing, treatment, and smart drug delivery. This isn’t just telemedicine—it’s full-service, doorstep healthcare powered by clean energy and designed for the last mile. We use a combination of AI diagnostics, chatbot technology, solar-powered transport, and offline-first syncing to reimagine how care is delivered—no clinics, no queues, and no gap

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
AGKI Medical Laboratory serves low-income, underserved rural populations in Tanzania who face significant barriers to accessing quality healthcare. These communities often live miles away from the nearest clinic, lack reliable transportation, and experience chronic shortages of healthcare workers, diagnostic services, and essential medications. As a result, treatable conditions go undiagnosed, and preventable deaths—especially among women, children, and the elderly—remain alarmingly high.
Our solution directly brings healthcare to their doorsteps using solar-powered electric bikes and vans equipped with diagnostic tools, medications, and health educators. Through our AI-powered WhatsApp platform, patients can access care in their local language, even offline, receiving automated triage, remote consultations, and timely health education. Our mobile teams then follow up with in-person lab tests, treatments, and drug delivery—no need to travel, wait in line, or miss work.
By removing the physical, financial, and digital barriers to care, AGKI empowers communities with early diagnosis, consistent treatment, and lifesaving health knowledge. We’re not just improving access—we’re transforming how healthcare is delivered in hard-to-reach areas, reducing preventable deaths and building healthier, more resilient communities from the ground up.
