What specific problem are you solving?
We are addressing the severe disconnect between Nigerian youth and effective, accessible learning outside the classroom — a crisis fueled by a lack of engaging resources, technological exclusion, and educational inequality. In a country of over 229 million people with a median age of just 18, more than 60 million school-aged children are currently out of school. Those who are enrolled often lack access to personalized, interactive learning support and struggle to keep up with rigid, one-size-fits-all curricula.
Compounding this, the traditional educational infrastructure fails to meet learners where they are: on mobile, on social platforms, and on-demand. Over 70% of Nigerian students report feeling disengaged from their education. Many are not just underserved — they are unserved.
What is your solution?
Kawe is a friendly, AI-powered tutor that lives where Nigerian students already are — on WhatsApp.Built to make learning outside the classroom easy, accessible, and personalized, using the most the most widely adopted communication tool in Nigeria. Our solution is not about creating another app students won’t download; it’s about integrating intelligent learning into a tool they already use daily.Kawe uses natural language processing, multimodal AI, and contextual awareness to turn their Cellphones into a powerful educational companion.
Students can send voice notes, documents, questions of their homework— and Kawe responds with simplified explanations, interactive prompts, and bite-sized lessons tailored to their learning style and level.
With over 90% smartphone penetration among youth and WhatsApp usage spanning urban and rural Nigeria, we are bypassing the app barrier and eliminating friction in access. No new app to learn. No website to visit. Just learning, right inside a conversation.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Exquidor serves the students often left behind by traditional education, the 60+ million Nigerian youth who are out of school, as well as millions more who attend but remain underserved due to overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of interactive support. Our users are not just numbers, they’re bright, curious minds in rural villages, urban slums, and low-income communities who lack access to personal tutoring or learning aids. They’re students whose only learning device is a shared smartphone — and that’s exactly why we chose WhatsApp as our classroom
By placing a powerful AI tutor in their pocket, Exquidor empowers these learners to ask questions without fear of judgment, learn at their own pace, and revisit difficult topics as often as needed.
We serve three interconnected groups:
Students: From primary schoolers to university entrants, they gain continuous, learning support. This means stronger performance, greater confidence, and ultimately, more students staying in school
Parents: Especially in low-income households, where hiring tutors is unaffordable, Exquidor offers a free path to academic support.
Teachers: Educators struggling to reach large classes or remote students now have a partner. Recommendable as a supplementary tool, Thereby ensuring students get consistent reinforcement even beyond the school gates.
