What specific problem are you solving?
In Nigeria and across many African communities, millions of children struggle with basic reading skills. UNESCO reports that 70% of 10-year-olds in low- and middle-income countries can’t understand a simple story, and over 27 million Nigerian children face learning poverty.
The root of the problem includes a shortage of trained teachers, lack of age-appropriate content, and limited access to digital tools. Children are willing to learn, they just don’t have what they need.
The iLearn Literacy Project bridges this gap by providing engaging, foundational literacy content through both offline tools and our YouTube channel. Whether or not schools have internet access, our solution makes early learning more accessible, inclusive, and fun.
What is your solution?
The iLearn Literacy Project is a digital learning solution that delivers foundational literacy and numeracy through engaging, culturally relevant content. It features a growing library of bite-sized video lessons, phonics songs, story animations, and literacy games, many available for free on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@ilearnkidsglobal.
The content is designed with child-friendly storytelling, music, and visuals to make learning fun and interactive. It works both online and offline: via YouTube or through plug-and-play kits using OTG flash drives, mobile projectors, and reusable materials. This hybrid model makes learning flexible, portable, and easy to use in any setting.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our target population is early-grade learners, primarily ages 3–9, and the educators or caregivers who support them. Many lack access to engaging, age-appropriate learning content and tools, especially in under-resourced or tech-limited settings.
Our solution provides high-quality, culturally relevant literacy content through YouTube and offline kits, helping children learn effectively while supporting those who teach them.
